POSITION SUMMARY: The weekend receptionist workson an "as needed" or PRN basis on the Weekend(s) in the main reception area of the hospital. Duties includegreeting visitors, checking them in, and communicating their presence to the appropriate staff. Has a great deal of public contact and extensive time handling incoming calls on a multi-line phone.Must be compassionate and have the ability to supportindividuals experiencing mental health crisis as well as hospital visitors, vendors and others. Serves thepublicby greeting visitors and calling on the appropriate hospital staff to assist in managing their needs.Expected to give a minimum of two (2) weeks notice prior to voluntary resignation. A probationary period of one hundred eighty (180) days is required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  • Answers calls within three (3) rings and directs call appropriately in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Utilizes paging system in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Greets and assists all visitors & patients ensuring visitors sign in on the Visitor Sign-In Sheet.
  • Assists the various units with coordination of visitors, paging and administrative tasks where necessary.
  • Codes and inputs daily charges accurately.
  • Files paperwork in patient files in a prompt and accurate manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Duties require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and some lifting. Position involves both working independently, and working with others. Rarely will be exposed to hazardous/infectious material. Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES REQUIRED:

Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and completed the twelfth (12th) grade of high school. Must be in good mental health and physical condition and willing to work with psychiatric patients and their families as well as guests, vendors, employees and others in a courteous manner. Must have the ability to multi-task and to handle multiple demands at one time in a courteous and efficient manner. Health care reception experience is a plus. Must have basic understanding of MS Office, Word, Outlook, Excel experience and have the ability to deal with a multi-line phone. Have the ability to handle hazardous/infectious waste on a rare basis. Have the ability to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds on a frequent basis. Have the ability to communicate verbally, see well enough to read written material and discern a variety of odors continuously.
