What You'll Do

Cisco seeks a results-oriented and driven pre-sales Systems Architect (SA) to lead co-development engineering engagement with a large Service Provider (SP) customer. This is a highly technical (pre-sales) position that supports the Sales organization so you must run all the technical aspects of pre-sales activities including next generation hardware and software. Although this position has minimal post sales-support required, you'll be responsible for presenting, demonstrating, crafting solutions, feature planning and organization to pursue the specific needs for one of the most influential companies in the world. In order to do this optimally, you should be highly accomplished with:

  • Routing Protocols
  • QoS
  • MPLS
  • SP networking designs
  • SDN
  • Netconf/YANG
  • Hardware Architecture
  • Whitebox value
  • Telemetry
  • Segment Routing

Who You'll Work With

As a Systems Architect, you will provide mentorship and engineering assistance to the account teams building production networking solutions to address specific needs of a large web provider along with working directly with the Web and Cloud SP business.

Since a couple of the primary technology trends in web scale networking are new network architectures (large scale automation/operations with programmability and next gen routing and switching hardware including 400G Ethernet and beyond), we are seeing many ideas and enquiries to migrate to a design that can support multiple equipment and services vendors for a large scale engagement. The SA would need to help innovate, position, align, test and sell architectures that enable the Cisco strategy in a scalable, programmed and secure way.

  • Extensive deep technical pre-sales experience preferred.
  • BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent, CCIE certification or equivalent a plus.
  • In-depth experience with Enterprise Networking, Service Provider and Data Center technologies and architectures.
  • Deep familiarity with merchant silicon.
  • Routing standards and technologies including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, LAG, ECLB, Segment Routing.
  • Routing security designs (uRPF, ACLs, CPP, MD5, SSH).
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco routing and switching products.
  • In-depth QoS and Security knowledge.
  • Production networking architecture.
  • Service Provider/Web Provider designs and architecture.
  • Leaf and Spine architecture.
  • Comprehension of Automation with focus on NetConf, YANG Models, OpenConfig, and industry controller technologies.
  • Ability to train and disseminate SP networking and Data Center trends within a larger sales area.
  • Capable of understanding sophisticated technical and selling situations to be able to pinpoint the problem and solicit the required resources.
  • The ability and comfort level to present easily to customer engineers, managers and executives to optimally position the value of Cisco solutions and how those solutions seek the customer problems or achieves their goals.
  • A desire to work with account teams on strategy, architecture and design of customer networks.
  • Desire and ability to convey ideas with Cisco Engineering Leaders to co-develop products or software features directly for SP Web organizations.
  • Craft, present and document technical solutions for in-depth and high-level technical presentations and test plans to the customers, Cisco Development and prospects

We Are Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference. Heres how we do it.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think were old (30 years strong!) and only about hardware, but were also a software company. And a security company. An AI/Machine Learning company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do you cant put us in a box!

But Digital Transformation is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, we give our egos a break and we give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, we take bold steps, and we take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a commitment to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colorful hair? Dont care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? Thats cool.
