Prudential is seeking to recruit an executive to lead global communications strategy and execution for Prudentials Diversity, Inclusion & Impact (DI&I) portfolio, consisting of three pillars: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); Impact & Responsible Investing, and Culture & Engagement (which encompasses Prudentials enterprise-wide inclusion and diversity initiatives). This executive will be responsible for leading communications programs that bring to life how Prudentials DI&I team is promoting inclusive economic growth by leveraging the companys talent, philanthropy and investments, aligned with the capabilities and strategies of our businesses.   The role will focus on driving communications strategy that engages a broad stakeholder group, both inside and outside Prudential.  In addition to counseling the Senior Vice President, Diversity, Inclusion & Impact, and her team, the strategist will work closely with executives throughout the company, and with communications professionals across the businesses and corporate functions, to demonstrate how Prudentials portfolio of DI&I initiatives are: 

  • An integral part of Prudentials business model, capabilities and strategy.

  • Helping Prudential realize its purpose and have a positive societal impact.

  • Accelerating our progress towards a truly diverse and inclusive culture.

Role and Responsibilities

 

The person in this role will:

  • Serve as lead communications counselor to the SVP of Diversity, Inclusion & Impact, and her senior leadership team; serve as the communications subject matter expert for major multi-year initiatives supporting Prudentials growth ambitions, and the companys diversity, inclusion and impact agenda.  

  • Identify and leverage macro trends to inform and position DI&I narratives, and create multi-layered communications plans to amplify these narratives within Prudential and, where appropriate, outside the company using a mix of internal, traditional, social, digital and earned media channels.

  • Leverage the resources and centers of expertise within the Global Communications organization including platform development, analytics, research, and media impact to quantify and deepen communications impact, improve decision support and drive outcomes.  

  • Oversee strategic communications planning and execution across the DI&I portfolio, including:

    • informing the editorial vision for Prudentials content and thought leadership program, and driving campaigns to promote our DI&I initiatives in compelling, actionable, and differentiated ways; and

    • consulting on communications strategy to optimize executive positioning.

  • Serve as a catalytic member of the Diversity, Inclusion & Impact Senior Leadership team.

    



Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in any field of academic rigor, advanced degree in a relevant field of study is preferred, but not required with proven experience and track record of achievement. 

Experience:

  • 15 years of experience in a corporate communications and/or public affairs role, preferably within a global corporation or organization, agency or business consultancy.

Management style:

  • Entrepreneurial and biased to action

  • Influential leader invested in leveraging communications to achieve positive business and societal impact.

  • Proven ability to partner and deliver strategic business value in a complex organizational environment

 Leadership mandate:

  • Provide incisive, strategic counsel to C-suite decisionmakers, lead senior experts and nurture junior talent.

  • Partner with business leaders and communications colleagues across the enterprise to accelerate the use of communications in support of business goals and growth

  • Cultivate and strengthen culture and talent across the Global Communications and Diversity, Inclusion & Impact teams.

  • Develop and apply insights from analytical tools and programs to shape communications narratives.


Technical requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate reputation management, and a strong understanding of the evolving communications, media and public policy landscape.

  • Expertise in devising and executing communications campaigns focused on CSR, impact investing, and diversity and inclusion strategies, issues and initiatives. 

  • Strategic forward-focused thinker with proven ability to address complex communications challenges, demonstrate communications value and keep ahead of industry trends.

  • Knowledge of content, creative and channel strategy across the optimal mix traditional, social and emerging platforms.

  • History of improving driving business growth and quantifiable outcomes through the strategic development and application of communications techniques, data and digital solutions.

  • Ability to package and present insight and messaging in an actionable way.
