The Vice President, Medicare Strategy & Execution is responsible for the management of multiple clinical programs and business development opportunities impacting Medicare Advantage populations within Georgia helping to serve over 300,000 UHC Medicare members and 2.2M Medicare eligible in the state. This role will lead the strategy and execution of stars, clinical programs and services including quality improvement, affordability, sales, products and new care provider reimbursement and partnership opportunities. Establishes and maintains clear leadership credibility and partnership with our external provider and broker partners. Recruits, retains, and nurtures top talent. Promotes Our United Culture. Drives innovation. Additionally, this role will be responsible for identifying and leading new business strategies and initiatives to meet the needs of our members. These strategies will impact Medicare Advantage product development and planning, new business ventures, and market expansion.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the Medicare market strategist of Georgia health care delivery, business development, payment model innovation, and policy integration
  • ""
  • Workcross-organizationally with local health plan team, Network, Market Medical Director and Optum Stars to identify and execute new business opportunities, including bundled payment models, post-acute care innovation, and ACO acceleration and proliferation
  • ""
  • Meaningful contribution to market-level growth, IOI, and NPS goals
  • ""
  • Key player in defining and owning execution of the Growth and Retention strategy in partnership with Distribution; a face of the market to external channels
  • ""
  • Actively collaborates with all Medicare & Retirement national functions (Product, Sales, Marketing, Member Experience, Finance), UnitedHealthcare shared services functions (Network, Clinical, Quality, Operations) and Optum (Local Care Delivery, HouseCalls, Complex Population Management) functions to leverage local market knowledge and establish and drive plans across all levers of the P&L

  • Report to the Health Plan Chief Executive Officer of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia & Tennessee Health Plans

Required Qualifications:

    ""
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business management or healthcare related field
  • ""
  • 8+ years of experience leading teams with direct reports within a large matrixed environment and a demonstrated ability to manage people and prioritize deliverables
  • ""
  • 10+ years of health care leadership experience with at least 5+ years experience in Medicare
  • ""
  • Stars strategy inclusive of HEDIS, Part D and CAHPs to achieve 85% of members in 4-star plans
  • ""
  • Demonstrated ability of 5+ years of experience in Medicare with a concentration on Stars market leading levels at 4+ stars
  • ""
  • 8+ years of experience in a large, complex, and successful health care / managed care organization with demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and accountability
  • ""
  • Experience working with health care providers/networks, CMS Star ratings, HEDIS measures, Part D, and clinical quality
  • ""
  • 8+ years of experience within health care delivery, health insurance, or health policy
  • ""
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and/or business development
  • ""
  • 25% - day travel
  • ""
  • Reside in Georgia or willing to relocate to Georgia
  • ""

  • Master's Degree in Business management or Masters or higher within healthcare related field

  • 5+ years of experience within Alabama health care delivery, health insurance, or health policy

  • Marketing and product and/or project management or development experience within a matrix environment
  • ""
  • 5+ sales and/or marketing experience
  • ""
  • Experience with Medicare or Medicaid, DSNP, MAPD, MME and/or LTC / LTSS organization
  • ""
  • Financial acumen with a demonstrated understanding of P&L and budgeting
  • ""
  • Self-driven with an ability to work independently
  • ""
  • Proven organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including well-developed interpersonal skills used to influence the behavior of others across a highly matrixed organization- ability to speak to large groups and television interviews as well
