The VP of Community & State (C&S) Growth is accountable for driving a comprehensive growth strategy aligned to short and long-term business goals. On behalf of the SVP, Policy & Strategic Engagement, this leader will be accountable for the breadth of growth levers including: new product and greenfield business development, organic member growth, marketing strategy and execution, existing market strategy and reprocurements, community engagement and supplier diversity, and strategic partnership development and social impact investing.

This role, in close collaboration with regional CEOs will establish a comprehensive growth agenda that ensures C&S ability to be effectively positioned to maintain market footprints, secure new populations and geographies, and improve sustainable market share. The leader will be accountable for deploying teams to achieve growth targets and collaborate with market CEOs to ensure that state growth goals and opportunities are identified, strategies are developed to achieve goals, and evaluation of efforts is maintained to drive continual improvement.

This leader will be accountable for collaborating with key leaders in the Policy & Strategic Engagement team to ensure the growth agenda is supported through the policy and influence objectives, the development of differentiated capabilities and solutions, and the infrastructure of growth operations. The leader is accountable for, along with their team, achieving 100%-win rate on all core business RFPs and establishing a market leading win rate in non-core business opportunities. As an active participant in the development of RFP responses, this leader will be responsible for ensuring existing markets are optimally positioned through bid optimization activities and that comprehensive development activities result in demonstrable competitive positioning for greenfield opportunities.

The VP of Growth will ensure optimal community engagement as measured by greenfield RFP performance, market membership share, and advancement of key organizational goals associated with reduction in health disparities and inequities. As part of these efforts, the leader will be responsible for expanding efforts to leverage small and diverse businesses. In addition, the leader will be accountable for the development of expanded national and regional strategic relationships and partnerships to ensure ongoing differentiation for C&S to create competitive advantage and reinforce thought leadership opportunities.

  • Bachelors degree

  • Senior leader with 10+ years of demonstrated progressive career accomplishments

  • 10+ years of health industry experience

  • 9+ years of experience in leadership roles

  • 9+ years of experience in developing, leading to execution, and sustaining local and/or regional/national growth strategies

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $240,000to $300,000. The role is also eligible to participate in UHGs annual bonus and long-term incentive plans.
