The Canada Client Holdings team is responsible for in-house and vendor-supported applications used daily by our Canadian clients and branches to transact business on accounts (trades, deposits/withdraws, transfers). We're seeking an exceptionally talented person to innovate and collaborate with our team to generate creative ideas that will continue taking these experiences to the next level.

*Responsibility Summary :*
The Canada Client Holdings team is responsible for in-house and vendor-supported applications used daily by our Canadian clients and branches to transact business on accounts (trades, deposits/withdraws, transfers). We're seeking an exceptionally talented person to innovate and collaborate with our team to generate creative ideas that will continue taking these experiences to the next level.
* Provide daily oversight of critical vendor relationship and act as liaison between the vendor and internal Technology teams. Day to day responsibilities will include: Assist in resolving incidents or problems in the mission critical environment including escalations as needed
* Review and perform business risk analysis on vendor recommended system changes
* Create/maintain system testing scripts and documentation
* Maintain Disaster Recovery plan and coordinate regular testing
* Complete/Coordinate internal system testing for vendor system changes
* Attend regular vendor operations and system performance meetings
* Review incident root cause analysis and performance reports for accuracy; ask for report corrections when needed
* Understand and proactively communicate Edward Jones' capacity drivers and business needs to vendor
* Plan system software upgrades with vendor to ensure all system software is on supported versions and meet Edward Jones' business requirements
* Support overnight and weekend implementations
* Communicate issues and problem resolutions with all stakeholders

*Qualifications Required In the Job: *
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or realted field preferred or related work experience
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development
* Develop business and technical requirements for enhancements, assist with requirements for new systems
* Design (including program specification), develop, test, document and implement quality application software within targeted timeframes
* Provide program and system level estimates - may include options and recommendations for course of action
* Documentation for transition to support teams as well as for daily assignments - includes program flows, interdependencies and troubleshooting/escalation policies as well as standard team documentation
* Proficient in at least one of the Jones environments; establishing skills in others. Environments may include the following, plus the ability to interface with one or more database platforms:

* Web Application Development
* Client Application Development
* Mainframe Online and/or Batch Development
* Enterprise or solution specific purchased software

* Understand business implications of projects for systems within responsibility and prior experience
* Participate and approve others code walkthroughs to assure quality of programs developed by other associates
* Develop and build relationships and gain confidence of stakeholders
* Develop and execute moderate complexity test plans to ensure quality
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical associates and leaders
* Moderately complex programming assignments characterized by:

* Assumes all skills of a Programmer Analyst, plus
* Add/Edit functionality
* Complex error handling, calculations and/or transfer logic
* Multiple programs
* Interaction with two or more systems
* Changes to data, and possibly data structures

*Preferred:*
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the vendor and other internal teams
* System software knowledge (z/OS, CICS, MQ Series, DB2, Sybase, Oracle)
* Storage knowledge
* Networking knowledge
* Systems security knowledge
* ETL solutions using Pentaho
* Knowledge of Windows server admin, Linux operating system, Linux scripting, Java Script, Java batch, Perl Scripting, Visual Basic, .Net, SQL Server, DB2 and Oracle databases
