UX Writer: Cisco, Webex 



Your background must include

  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience on user-focused product writing including work in hardware, software, digital agency, or other relevant product areas.

      Top-notch ability to write clearly and succinctly in a way that encourages users to want to use our product, and makes sure that theyre able to do so easily.

  • Experience in shaping content for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Experience working in a continuous deployment and Agile environment where content needs to be updated regularly and rapidly.

  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience developing information architecture for complex documentation sets or product suites.
  • Experience with localization and accessibility best practices.
  • Knowledge of online technology and related products, including web and mobile UI.

      Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices and how to use data to provide informed user insights ? ex: competitive analyses, direct customer feedback, A/B testing, etc.

  • Ability to lead, collaborate and influence (with and without formal authority) engineering, design, and product management teams.

About the job

Join the Webex Online & Calling Experience team in creating best-in-class experiences that expand our reach and shape the future of work-from-anywhere. The Webex Online + Calling UX group is made up of of multi-disciplinary creators & technologists, and we are passionate about the people we build our product for. The UX team plays a crucial part in gathering and translating user behaviors and attitudes in the form of evangelization, education, and the experiences we produce. Working within Ciscos Collaboration Technology Group, youll be part of a team dedicated to enabling small to medium business to try, buy, and use Webex software and hardware. We collaborate closely with each other, engineering, and product managers to create products that deliver value for the people who use them, and for Ciscos businesses.


As a UX Writer youll regularly use craft, empathy, logic, and data to inform writing and design choices. Youll drive guidelines, create processes, design solutions, influence product vision, manage cross-functional projects, and work with leadership to set goals. Youll incorporate user-centered design methods to all elements of product design, with a focus on clarity, coherence, quality, accessibility, and global relevance. Youll partner with teams to conceptualize, test, design, and deliver human-centered user experiences and build products that are distinctively Webex: inclusive, bridge-building, useful, and secure.


  • Use writing and editing skills to write user interface text that facilitates user navigation, as well as on-boarding, promos, error messages, instructional materials, and other components of the end-to-end user experience.
  • Drive vision for product language and content across a product or subject-matter domain, and ensure cohesive product narratives. Document your strategies with guidelines, and establish best practices and strategy principles within the Webex Online and Calling Teams.
  • Manage projects from needs assessment to implementation; identify opportunities, establish priorities, secure resources, and manage stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, legal, marketing, product managers, and engineers. Influence and adapt to stakeholders and their feedback.
  • Collaborate with our Creative Direction UX Writing Team to ensure a consistent voice and tone across all pillars of Webex.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to junior UX writers and educate cross-functional partners on the role of UX writing and content strategy throughout the product development process.
