ADP is hiring a Underwriting Manager. In this position you will evaluate prospects/clients for acceptance into ADP TotalSource with emphasis on workers' compensation at a National level; Approve or disapprove those prospects based on established criteria. Lead Underwriting Team that provides continuous monitoring of the prospective and existing client base. Keeps the UW unit focused on Production underwriting goals as well as Loss Ratio goals. Meet goals for Loss Ratio, Sales Volume, Processing Efficiency, and Sales RFP Process; Respond effectively and efficiently in order to improve relationships with our sales team as well as our ADP TotalSource clients. This position is 100% decision making for Risk selection and problem solving. The development of guidelines and procedures are critical to the establishment of a consistent and effective approach by the department. A strong knowledge of workers' compensation issues is required. The ability to make timely decisions considering numerous variables under heavy pressure is another crucial requirement as well as being able to take the responsibility for all decisions made within the department. Duties also include pricing modifications, recommendations, and adjustments with Financial Executives and General Managers within each region regarding individual prospects. The financial impact is great as the Underwriting Department's primary function is to evaluate each prospect/client for potential for claims, correct class codes and rates are appropriate for the initial approval or disapproval. The satisfactory collections of the proper account information as well as the proper analysis of this data are imperative. These functions are critical to the organization, as this control is a major percentage of revenue and can make a significant impact on profit or loss.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and assure that the risk selection process is maintained within established guidelines and modified as necessary 
  • Daily interaction with Sr. Sales Management concerning work flow, eRFP status, and consistency of monthly reporting 
  • Develop necessary changes in operational process to ensure our service to sales and our client are as timely and accurate as possible. This includes new procedures that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the UW unit
  • To maintain an effective Underwriting unit by managing at a high morale level as well as building strong relationships with our sales team.
  • Encourage the development of associates' business skills and development opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with state laws and statutes
  • Operate within the corporate budget.
  • Approve associate time schedules, contractor/vendor relationships
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • 8-10 years experience in insurance, knowledge of all phase of insurance operations (or equivalent in education or experience)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in education and experience
  • CPCU certification
  • Experience in all phases of managing insurance operations
  • Leading associates with ability to manage people under many types of circumstances
