The Service Provider Infrastructure Technical Leadership team is part of the Global TAC organization and supports SP Networking, SP Mobility, SP Cable, Optical, and Router/Switch Architecture, Data Center and related technologies. Today, we are building innovative teams that have the highest level of technical ability, innovation, and general problem-solving skills within the Global TAC. IOS-XR is one of the most growing new technologies. The High Touch Technical Services team provides second/third level technical support on a worldwide basis for IOS-XR Operating systems and routers (ASR9000, CRS, NCS5000) to Cisco customers, partners, account teams, and other TAC engineers via Phone/Email/WebEx consultation to independently solve & debug product problems.

Role & Responsibilities

A Technical Consulting Engineer for Technical Services is part of a highly skilled team in a ground breaking technology supporting IOS-XR Operating system and routers (ASR9K, CRS, NCS5K).

You will provide second/third level technical support on a worldwide basis via phone, email, web and remote access for XR Products such as CRS-8 & CRS-16, ASR9000, and NCS55xx and XE Products such as ASR9xx. You have a working knowledge of Networking industry, products and protocols.

Your crisis leadership skills and ability to handle critical customer issues/problems are second to none. You strive to be an IOS-XR Technical Consulting Engineer that would be driving projects within the business unit and to be part of several engineering and Technical Content Delivery activities. You will work on problems of moderate to wide scope and moderate to high complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.

Who you Are?

  • You are a trusted resource in the area of IOS-XR & IOS-XE and its underlying platforms (CRS, ASR9K, NCS5500, ASR900s) and Technologies.
  • Provides second/third level technical support on a worldwide basis via phone, email, web and remote access.
  • Customer Experience Engineers drive projects with the Business Unit and will be part of several engineering and Technical Content Delivery activities.
  • You are able to work on complex and diverse problems where analysis requires imaginative and innovative troubleshooting.
  • You act as a focal point for large account network problem resolution and provide technical leadership for Critical Accounts.
  • You provide systems/product training in written and presentation form, such as chalk talks, web pages, white papers, Tech Zone and Cisco Support Community participation, Cisco Live, EBCs, etc.
  • Knowledge of large-scale Service Provider Architectures.
  • You effectively utilize lab setups to debug broad and complex problems and submit complete bug reports while supervising reports of other engineers for quality.
  • You lead the creation of intellectual capital through written documents and machine consumable scripts and signatures that enables faster issue identification and resolution.
  • Build and maintain trust and relationships with premium customers and Cisco team members.

Must Have Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Cisco portfolio of offerings.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills. Must be comfortable addressing large groups of internal and external contacts.
  • 4+ years' experience working on the following SP-focused technologies: Routing Protocols (OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS), IPv4, IPv6, Multicast, MPLS, Quality of Service, L2VPN, L3VPN, DMVPN, GRE, BGP, MP-BGP, Multicast, Unicast, etc.
  • Troubleshooting experience using Wireshark, or other Protocol Analyzer.
  • Lab Testing experience with Spirent or IXIA is a plus.
  • Programming skills (Python, Linux, Shell Scripting) Devnet
  • Experience running complex technical projects. Strong business and financial acumen.
  • You have experience interacting with Development Engineers and Escalation teams supporting IOS-XR technologies.
  • Proven crisis leadership skills
  • BS/BA in Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • CCIE and/or CCDE certification is a plus.
