Hampton Academy is a State of NJ; Dept. of Education approved private day school for first through twelfth grade students with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral and academic challenges. Our strong academic program, which is aligned with New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, is supported by the intensive therapeutic services students need to overcome obstacles to achievement. We are looking for a Full-time Reading Specialist/Supplemental Reading Teacher to workwith students the Academy by organizing and supervising students in all settings.

Reading Specialist / Supplemental Reading Teacher

  • Works closely with colleagues to build a cohesive school culture of success.
  • Is responsible for providing direct instruction to identified groups and individual students.
  • Pushes into classrooms daily to assist struggling learners.
  • Help teachers diagnose reading students strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials for reading and other content areas.
  • Monitors pupil progress toward State standards and IEP objectives of reading instruction; develops and maintains records and reports as necessary.
  • Works collaboratively to implement a quality reading program that is research-based and meets the needs of students.
  • Communicates consistently with families about student progress.
  • Is results-driven and has a track record of improving students reading scores.
Job Requirements



  • Possess or are eligible for NJ certification in Elementary Teacher Grades K-6
  • Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH)
  • Reading Specialist certification preferred (Wilson Reading instructor, Orton Gillingham or similar)
