Responsibilities

The Systems Integrator (SI) will support the Sponsor in administering elements of multi-faceted programs to support dynamic mission sets. This includes using project concepts and principles to complete tasks as directed by the Sponsor. The SI will coordinate and complete activities for all source Cl risk assessments of communications technologies and the overall Sponsor's objectives in a timely manner. This position requires some local travel, as required.

The customer is seeking expertise to assist with Cl investigative efforts in the identifying and analyzing all or part of a component's existing or new peripheral, network, and telecommunications systems requirements, taking into consideration the special technology needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish functional and technical specifications and standards, solve hardware and software interface problems, define input/output parameters, and ensure integration of the entire systems or subsystem.
  • Work with other engineers, systems analysts, programmers, technicians, scientists and top-level managers in the design, testing and evaluation of systems.
  • Track/maintain Departments technical support requirements for Branch business areas, to include system acquisition, configuration, Cl assessment and/or other related testing reports, and product lifecycle activities.
  • Coordinates and documents system/component acquisition activities and system upgrades or recap activities.
  • Works with Department POC's to schedule and coordinate maintenance missions. Establish and maintain baseline functional and technical specifications/standards for each (system) deployed.
  • Track and research hardware and software problems and/or anomalies reported or identified by audit activities.
  • Coordinates with other team members and ensures problem solution, appropriate risk reduction, and resolution activities.
  • Test and evaluate hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system, and make purchase recommendations.
  • Consult customers, visit relevant sites to conduct surveys to determine present and future user needs as required.
  • Manage and update the master support schedule.
  • Ensure coordination and information flow occurs between team members responding to requirements and organizational managers.
  • Estimate software/hardware acquisition, testing, and delivery requirements to include a tentative cost and schedule for each.
  • Assist with network performance monitoring activities to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement and deconflict any new security/Cl vulnerability alerts.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records. Research new technology and implement it or recommend its implementation.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
  • Coordinate with vendors, logistics personnel, and organizational managers to facilitate purchases. Test and evaluate hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system, and make purchase recommendations.
  • Provide frequent contact with customers, traceability within program documents, and the overall computing environment and architecture.
  • Prepare milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system test and evaluation concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.
  • Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware. Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Confer with stakeholder about how to solve existing system problems.
  • Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
  • Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.

As a Systems Integrator, the candidate may often find him/herself attending meeting at various other sites. All personnel coming into the Department undergo an additional security review.

Qualifications

Required skills:

  • TS/SCI with Poly clearance required
  • Computer software/hardware, associated peripherals, and telecommunications networks - Knowledge and familiarity with computer hardware and software, especially network security/monitoring applications and configuration.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

  • Information Ordering - The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).
  • Selective Attention - The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
  • Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.

Desired skills:

  • Typically, someone that is a recognized expert or certified practitioner with a particular computer language, system or technology that can not only deliver capabilities, but can mentor and train others.
  • Generally, requires eleven (11) years of experience specific to the skill and relevant training or certifications.
  • Expertise, training and actual work experience with the specific computer language, systems, and/or technology is significantly more important than the number of years of experience. This is especially true with emerging technologies.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill will be considered equivalent to three (3) years specialized experience (total equivalency is not cumulative when combined with an Associate's degree).
