Responsibilities

Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

The application tester will provide functional and automated application testing support for an enterprise advanced discovery capability aimed at unstructured data. The application has been and will continue to be delivered in a series of incremental releases that deliver increased functionality and allows analysts to interact with a growing number of analytic capabilities and data. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for developing and maintaining test plans and test cases, including functional testing, integration and regression testing. In addition, the candidate will is expected to work cohesively with other IT testers, collaborate with testers form other teams, participate and contribute to peer reviews and actively contribute to process improvements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing manual and automated testing of various software products
  • Executing test cases, documenting defects and reporting them to the software team
  • Understanding the requirements and write test cases (user stories)
  • Coordinating and participating in project meeting during software development lifecycle
  • Documenting and interpreting business and technical requirements for testing utilizing various development methodologies (waterfall, agile, interactive)
  • Participating in technical exchange meeting throughout the software development lifecycle, including collaborating with developers
  • Communicating testing result data to multiple audiences
  • Serving as a trainer and update user guide documentation
  • Creating and delivering test workflow framework and procedures for the sponsors applications
  • Conducting performance testing along with functional and regression tests

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated experience (within the last 3 years) developing end-to-end automatedscripts with test tools (Selenium WebDriver/RC preferred, similar tools accepted)
  • Demonstrated experience developing test plans, test cases, technical documentation
  • Experience with JIRA or similar tool for reporting and tracking defects
  • Demonstrated experience with testing web applications across back-end, service tier, and presentation layers, including a variety of graphical user interfaces
  • Experience understanding customer requirements to develop testing approaches for improving usability, functionality and consistency with a focus on end user experience
  • Demonstrated experience conducting performance testing using tools such as Jmeter
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; excellent communication skills; ability to apply critical thinking to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be a self-starter; Proven ability to contribute as a team member with larger team environments
  • Proven ability to interact with customers, senior leadership, program managers, and cross-community personnel in a highly matrixed environment
  • Ability to work independently and amongst a team with minimal supervision to address roadblocks and deliver results in a timely manner or provide the most relevant course of action
  • Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.

Desired:

  • Experience conducting accessibility testing using tools such as JAWS, Tota11Y, ZoomText or other Section 508 compliance testing tools
