Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will engage in cloud-based systems engineering and implementation of enterprise infrastructure and platforms required for cloud computing, and development and deployment of applications into a cloud environment. Activities supported will include full life cycle end-to-end engineering, development, integration and deployment of cloud-based computing and information systems that meet specified mission needs.

Considered a recognized authority within the company. Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition process. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of environment (cloud, network, platform) components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements. Designs and develops solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns. Perform systems management and integration functions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  2. Bachelor's with 10-12 yrs of exp. or Master's with 8-10 yrs of exp.; Or related equivalent experience w/o a degree.
  3. Any Cloud-related Professional certification(s): [e.g., i. Professional Cloud Solutions Architect (PCSA) ii. AWS Solutions Architect (Professional)], iii. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, iv. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (Associate), v. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer (Professional), vi. AWS Certified Big Data (Specialty)]
  4. Experience leading a distributed cross-functional information technology implementation team.
  5. DIA systems experience [e.g., Machine-Assisted Analytic Rapid-Repository System (MARS), Generic Area Limitations Environment (GALE), Functional Intelligence System of Hierarchical Networks (FISHNet), FounDRI, Event Data, Defense Economics Database, Object Based Production (OBP), Activity Based Intelligence (ABI), IC Information Technology Enterprise (ICITE)].
  6. Hands-on experience in large-scale distributed systems engineering, integration, applications, analysis (e.g., architecture, design, development, implementation, verification, deployment and sustainment).
  7. Experience using Agile implementation methodologies.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. STEM Masters degree (e.g., computer science, management information systems, systems engineering).
  2. Relevant EA/SA (Architect), SE&I (INCOSE), IT (ITIL), Security (CISSP), Agile (CSM) certs; SAFe SME
  3. Large cloud-computing infrastructure and platforms experience (e.g., AWS or Elastic MapReduce).
  4. Cloud-based systems engineering, & development/deployment of applications into a cloud environment experience.
  5. Ability to identify technology gaps in current capabilities/processes, and to perform technology insertion.
  6. Knowledge of/demonstrated proficiency applying SE&I process, producing SE artifacts, designing solutions, performing trades, mission utility and affordability analysis, requirements engineering, interface definition, detailed implementation planning, tech insertion, risk management, readiness, certification and transition.
  7. Experience in commercial/defense industry IT Systems, including product workflows, information operations and assurance, content architectures, web services frameworks, data standards, and industry best practices.
