POSITION SUMMARY: The System Manager of Strategic Relationships works in concert with the System Director of Marketing / Public Relations, Regional Vice President South Texas Region, and the facility CEOs of South Texas Health System to raise awareness for, and build the reputation of, South Texas Health System hospitals, clinical service line expertise, and contributions to the local community. System Manager will plan, orchestrate, and drive visibility for community events including but not limited to, ground breaking ceremonies, grand openings, Winter Texas events, and other public venues. System Manager shall attend and represent the Health System at various public forum meetings including but not limited to, city council meetings, county commissioner meetings, school board meetings, Boarder Patrol updates, city update meetings open to the general public, and other meetings/forums where city/county/elected/appointed officials and business owners/operators are present. System Manager shall be responsible for raising the visibility and recognition of South Texas Health System as a valued community asset, progressive leader, economic engine for the community, a place to volunteer, a safety net organization, and an educational institution. The System Manager shall conduct himself/herself in such a manner so as to create and maintain trust-based relationships with leaders and personnel in fire departments, police departments, city offices, court system, school systems, and with business leaders and operators throughout the service areas of South Texas Health System. In addition, the System Manager will be responsible for executing strategies that are intended to create, maintain and promote a positive public image by forming relationships with various members of the media, government, and public in order to forge new business opportunities for STHS.

Job Requirements



  1. Ability to engage and clearly articulate messaging on the value, services and engagement of the health system in small group settings, large group presentations and in one-on-one conversations.
  2. Well-developed written skills reflecting the ability convey ideas in a concise and cogent manner.
  3. Well-developed skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, some work with Excel.
  4. Experience in roles that required the shaping and communication of complex messaging done in a way that was easy to understand, reflective of the intended audience, and memorable.
  5. Experienced in balancing the needs of multiple internal stakeholders and external partners.
  6. Ability to craft compelling messages and communication materials for all key audiences, while accepting constructive input so that the final messages/materials reflect a consensus opinion.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills.
  8. Effective relationship-building skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with internal and external partners.
  9. Demonstrated knowledge of health care policy, federal and state political landscapes and health care industry business issues.
  10. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHSs Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.


  1. BA/BS degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing or a health-related field required. Masters degree preferred.
