Perspecta has an immediate need for a Desktop Subject Matter Expert in Washington, DC.

Perspecta is currently conducting interviews to make offers for an exciting new customer, the Department of Labor (DOL). Candidates with a current Public Trust clearance, and all other qualified personnel are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration. The customer states that employees working under this task order shall be United States Citizens or legal permanent residents (i.e.: "Green Card Holders").

The Desktop Subject Matter Expert with a specialization in SCCM Packaging will maintain the install application packages for COTS and GOTS products used in DOL OCIO environment.

The SCCM Packager will be part of the Desktop Support Team to support application packaging for a Windows 10 deployment as well as other COTS products such as Cisco AnyConnect, DB2 Runtime, Cisco Proximity, and Microsoft Teams. The SCCM Packager will act as the point of contact for the Desktop Support Team for technical support regarding packages and SCCM deployments

Using good verbal and written communication skills, interacts well with end users and peer to support Desktop services for onsite and remote users. Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.


Education and Experience Required:

  • Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.
  • Requires 1 to 2 years experience supporting the U.S. Department of Labor.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Build common application packages into SCCM and deploy onto servers and workstations.
  • Create and maintain workstation images and build new systems with a standard imaging process.
  • Responsible for process and procedures for image builds and support checklists.
  • Create and maintain automated application deployment packages.
  • Develop software installation scripts and provide code review for complex software installations.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide downloads for OCIO supported workstations.
  • Assist Support Services in advanced level software installation package distribution troubleshooting.
  • Design, implement, and configure the COTS/GOTS software needed to support OCIO enterprise SCCM infrastructure.
  • Update and create documentation as needed (e.g. user guides, admin guides, knowledge base articles, FAQs, quick reference guides).
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) on all solutions implemented.
  • Providing user support and guidance.
  • Research, evaluate, and remain current on emerging tools, techniques, and IT technologies.
  • Work closely with the client to perform technical and requirements analysis.
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, innovative, and team-oriented environment.
  • Clearly communicate and set expectations of all developer tasks.
  • Closely work with multiple groups to review work and to mitigate roadblocks or schedule slippage.
  • Provide weekly statuses and estimates of all priority and non-priority projects along with recommended scope or schedule changes based on capacity and unforeseen challenges. Weekly review of all change requests (CAFs).
  • Inspire, mentor, and train development team on modern technologies continuously.
  • Participate in strategy planning discussions with technical, business, and client partners.
  • Coordinate and support application deployments.
  • Provide technical support including participation in on-call rotation.
  • Assist in the hiring process to hire top talent and participate in the performance reviews of team members to identify areas of improvement.
  • Create and perform testing (regression, functionality, performance, etc.).
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist preferred
  • AWS cloud certification a plus.
  • Azure cloud certification a plus
  • ITIL v3 foundation a plus.
  • An Active Public Trust or the ability to obtain a clearance.
