ProHealth Physicians, part of Optum Care, is seeking a Staff Accountant with strong Excel and analytical skills. ProHealth is one of the largest Primary Care practices in the state of Connecticut and the anchor medical group for the OptumCare Connecticut network. This position will work within the local Finance department and also partner with teams across the larger organization. We are looking for an inquisitive team member that cares about the details, but can also look at things keeping the bigger picture in mind.

• Cash Management:"""

  • Prepare daily and monthly cash reconciliations, working within banking systems and interactions with parent company treasury department.
  """
  • Manage credit card device inventory, logs and reporting in accordance with PCI (Payment Card Industry data security standard)
  """
  • Process patient and payer weekly refunds and prepare related reconciliations
  ""
  ""

• Month-end close and Financial reporting:""

  • Support the month-end close process including monthly journal entries relating to revenues, SG&A, balance sheet and cash.
  """
  • Prepare and maintain the revenue related journal entries for individual clinics and other various cost centers
  """
  • Understand the general ledger and business reporting structures, identify and resolve account discrepancies, research postings from various sources across different platforms and report findings to the management team
  """
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and expense reconciliations
  """
  • Adhere to all monthly reporting compliance deadlines
  ""
  ""

• Analyses:""
  """
  • Assist with monthly variance analysis, actual to budget and forecast comparisons and have ability to report out findings in a detailed and effective way
  """
  • Analyze and prepare ad hoc requests as needed to support the Finance department and management within the organization

• Annual Property Tax Declarations""
  """
  • Assist the accounting team with the preparation, balancing and review of the annual property tax declaration filings for over 80 locations throughout Connecticut
  """
  • Collaborate with accounting staff and find efficiencies to help streamline the annual reporting process
  ""

• Fixed Assets and Budgeting ""
  """
  • Support fixed asset reporting requirements and associated month end work
  """
  • Provide support for various budgeting and capital requirements as needed during designated times of the year
  ""

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Accounting and relevant work experience

• 3+ years of progressive professional experience

• Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel

• Effective organizational skills, strong attention to detail, self-starter

• Ability to communicate effectively within various settings

• Team player as well as ability to work independently
