**ROLE SUMMARY**

Pfizer has established a chief digital office which will lead the transformation of Pfizer into a digital powerhouse that will generate patient superior patient experiences that will result in better health outcomes.

The Analytic Tools and Platforms team, which is part of Analytics, Informatics and Business Intelligence within the Chief Digital Office is responsible for the development and management of all data and analytic tools and platforms across the enterprise - from scientific/clinical to commercial and for all Pfizer countries.



In this role, we are looking for colleagues driven toward continuous improvement, and maximizing the value provided by Business Intelligence and data management capabilities from end to end.



You may have a data engineering, software development , or platform support background or you were raised in a modern data analytics culture from the start of your career. You will have the ability to work with technology vendors, support resources, delivery partners, Pfizer stakeholders, etc. and apply traditional and emerging technologies for analytics improvements in support of identifying rapid insight s for Pfizer enterprise strategy development and operations management.



We are building our Service Reliability Engineering capability and are looking for talented and hardworking individuals to join our team. As a Service Reliability Engineer you will typically spend up to 50% of your time on operations work: ensuring the daily health and performance of our application services. The remainder of your time will be spent on development activities, from building new business functionality to automating routine tasks and implementing monitoring systems.

As this is a new capability, we will work to help talented individuals gain key the skills of a Service Reliability Engineer. You will build a deep understanding of the application, the code, how it runs, how it is configured and how it scales. This knowledge will make you invaluable at monitoring and supporting the applications as a Service Reliability Engineer .



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Performing Application Development and Maintenance activities to ensure high availability and reliability of our systems and data

+ Actively monitoring and reviewing application performance

+ Handling on-call and emergency support, ensuring software has robust logging and diagnostics

+ Working with the Platform Engineering capability to enable rapid continuous integration and deployment of application change

+ Providing oversight and governance of all changes across the environment.

+ Building and maintaining operational runbooks

+ Working on feature requests, defects and other development tasks

+ Responsible for responding to service issues, service success monitoring, and engineering improvements in equal parts

+ Identify opportunities to improve and modernize legacy s ervice delivery using progressive practices like agile and DevOps

+ Develop a pragmatic approach for the adoption of progressive practices that build on existing initiatives and capabilities

+ Build greater agility in operation to accommodate new or changed code faster and more frequently while ensuring the quality performance of variable workloads.

+ Establish service level objectives with greater tie to organizational value creation, for example, the time it takes to process batch, CPU consumption by batch, service stability, and data quality.

+ Eliminate toil (value subtracting, repetitive work) by investing time in engineering - by increasing capability and training workforce in modern engineering approaches and by allowing the workforce to apply those modern engineering approaches to heritage services

+ Increase and improve the data available for all aspects of service operation. Keep track of any and all activities such as system health, behaviors, cost efficiencies, speed, and any other useful data that will allow the identification of potential issues before they disrupt operations

+ Collaborate with other engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to understand requirements, partner, and support service through the entirety of a solution lifecycle



**QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Bachelors in Computer Science , Mathematics, Information Systems, Electronics, Electrical or a related field with focus on cloud computing

+ Proficiency in one or more of the following: Go, Python, C, C++, .Net, Java, Perl, Ruby or shell scripting

+ 3-5 years hands on experience with Public Clouds like AWS, Azure and Google

+ 2+ years' experience working with Unix/Linux operating systems including but not limited to package management, knowledge of file systems, performance monitoring/troubleshooting

+ 3-5 years of experience working with Infrastructure as Code, automation scripts, run book workflows, frameworks like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, etc.

+ 2+ years' of hands on experience working with container orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, etc.

+ Experience with a variety of data stores for unstructured and columnar data as well as traditional database systems, for example, ElasticSearch , MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, Big Query, Teradata , Oracle, MS SQL and Vertica

+ Experience with using or integrating with APIs; experience developing APIs is a plus

+ Strong working knowledge of SQL

+ You have hands on experience of continuous integration / continuous delivery and deployment tools (Jenkins, TeamCity) and experience working with other DevOps tools like JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket/ Github , Artifactory Repositories .

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment
