This individual contributor creates consumer-centric, data-driven multi-modal campaign strategies to attract, activate and engage consumers in programs to achieve enrollment and ongoing engagement targets. This position has direct involvement with defining member strategy for a variety of programs and delivering on tactics in addition to oversight of cross-functional marketing team members to execute campaigns. Consumer segmentation and cross-product synergy is a key component of this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Member marketing strategy"""

    • Develop strategy and tactical plan to achieve desired level of member engagement. Identify target audience, segmentation and personalization opportunities, methods for identification and outreach modalities (email, telephonic, targeted digital, search, social media, print, etc.)
    • """
    • Manage client relationships (both internal and external) to ensure open communications, alignment on expectations and timely execution
    • """
    • Develop strategic member journeys and campaign plan, including test strategies to maximize response
    • """
    • Determine timing and frequency for engagement
    • """
    • Develop and pilot new consumer engagement approaches / programs
    • """
    • Monitor, evaluate and report results and modify strategy accordingly (data-driven)
    • """
    • Lead and coordinate consumer research required to gain member insight and enhance marketing strategies
    • """
    • Develop campaign creative briefs, providing consumer positioning, as well as copy and design direction to creative staff

    • Develop and serve as ongoing owner of marketing materials used to drive program enrollment and behavior change post enrollment
    • """
    • Work with cross-program peers to support the coordination of integrated marketing efforts and share best practices

  • Execution and budget management""

    • Oversee the development of member marketing materials during all states of the consumer experience (pre- and post-enrollment)

    • Apply internal and external communications standards established for the business (e.g., branding standards / guidelines, internal style guides, naming conventions, CAN-SPAM laws, legal review, AP style guides, communications industry standards, health literacy)
    • """
    • Lead efforts to set-up, audit and enhance member communication content and materials across modalities (print, email, web, social media, events, etc.)
    • """
    • Maintain strong working knowledge of UHC and Optum business policies and procedures
    • """
    • Manage all material reviews, requirements and approval processes across Optum, UHC, Clinical and Medicare & Retirement (as appropriate); clearly articulating member and program requirements and the marketing approach, as well as working with partners to resolve conflicting feedback

    • Provide business requirements for campaign execution and analysis

    • Work with operations and Work Force management staff to coordinate marketing efforts with call center capacities

    • Develop the necessary metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication and marketing plans

    • Develop budgets to support recommended engagement strategies; obtain budget approval from Product team, manage, track and share ROI with leadership

    • Manage overall engagement reporting, analytics and impact. Apply learnings to ongoing marketing strategy execution

    • Manage spend relative to budget and maintain consistent updates to the budget tracker; monthly reconciliation to actual expenses and reporting of accruals; quarterly reporting of budget and forecast updates

  • 5+ years of consumer marketing experience, including demonstrated execution of multi-media campaigns and evaluating ROMI
  • ""
  • 3+ years of cross-functional project management experience, prioritizing several deliverables
  • ""
  • 3+ years of marketing experience within a matrix organization, deadline-driven environment and demonstrated organizational skills
  • ""
  • Digital marketing experience (email, targeted digital, nurture campaigns, website and social media)
  • ""
  • B2C marketing experience
  • ""
  • Database direct marketing experience
  • ""
  • Experience managing projects from strategy through execution
  • ""
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with senior leadership
  • ""
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Highly organized with a strong track record of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
