Sr. Manager / Team Lead is the site PMO Workstream Lead for all Business Technology (BT) solutions that change/improve the business within a pharmaceutical / medical device manufacturing company exceeding $300MM in revenue. The role manages a small team of associates that are skilled in a diverse set of technical/architecture, business analysis, and project management skills. The role also manages resources for CAPEX projects up to $2MM. This role oversees and manages a staff of 4 directs with an annual flex of 3-5+ direct contract workers. The role is expected to work with varied organizational levels and business teams to deliver the business technology value proposition. The role reports to the Director / Site Lead, Business Technology and is located in St. Louis, MO.


+ Primary POC and authority for all change-the business BT project management and execution at Meridian.

+ Will be responsible for the resources, budget, and controlling/execution of all IT projects with 3-18 month duration's

+ Partners with Pfizer core solutions teams to identify and implement (adopt/adapt) Pfizer technology platforms/solutions at the site.

+ Continuously evaluates staffing assignments and projects durations/efforts within the BT portfolio and PMO planning governance to ensure balance between speed and cost to business value.

+ Responsible for reporting to various stakeholder groups at and above site based on established reporting cadence

+ Works closely w/ the BT Site Lead to balance resources, priorities, and spend among projects and run-the-business initiatives with peer Meridian BT teams.

+ Primary contact for IT vendors providing contract staff in project management, development, and business analysis.

+ Partner with BT Site Lead on annual expense budget and monthly analysis/forecasting; coordinates 3-5 year BT capital plan w/ site BT team and key business partners.

+ Ensures scope of projects have necessary controls to successfully deliver per time/cost expectations.

+ Responsible for BT project intake, triage, and chartering - creates value buy-up and buy-down cases w/ site BT Lead and business partners.

+ Identifies continuous improvement opportunities around portfolio management, PMO workstream, project execution, communication and other internal BT or business processes.

+ Works within the business as a solution hunter to identify major pain points or opportunities where technology solutions or processes can drive the business more effectively.

+ Partners and negotiates with business stakeholders / SMEs on solution/service needs, approaches, defining boundaries, roles, and accountabilities/responsibilities.

+ Stays abreast of industry trends in technology - manufacturing, sales, marketing, quality systems - takes steps to identity quick win or pilot opportunities that can lead to potential long-term, strategic solutions.

+ Initiates BT POCs to vet solutions and business alignment.

+ Oversees managed vendors developing or delivering internal customer software / system solutions.

+ Surveys current local markets for new IT service providers and solutions; partners w/ BT Site Lead on tactical and strategic partner decisions.

+ Represents site on larger, global Pfizer BT development/implementation efforts - ONE Pfizer.

+ Performance manage, coaching, developing, and hire/fire direct colleagues; secondarily directing the activities of named or SOW based contracted staff.

+ Demonstrates Pfizer's OWNIT culture and Head, Heart & Guts competencies to move the business forward and maintain a high-level of team engagement.

+ Actively participates as member of the Pfizer Global Supply BT plant network to share best practices and learnings.

+ Executes other initiatives and/or projects identified by the BT Site Lead aligning with the business or Pfizer Plant Network.


+ US Citizenship is required due to statutory requirements.

+ Bachelor's degree and min 10+ years relevant IT experience; 3+ years as a people manager in a similar role

+ Strong experience as program manager and mentoring other project managers. People development is a core responsibility.

+ Significant experience with build vs buy decision making and evaluating IT solutions against business opportunities.

+ Experience managing solution development approaches - classic waterfall or modified agile for smaller solutions.

+ Extensive experience with COTS package deployments. Comfortable managing basic software development projects.

+ Experience delivering solutions within a regulated manufacturing pharmaceutical environment.

+ Experience with custom software development approaches to solve business problems - light-weight or micro middleware applications and development languages (i.e. python) and patterns.

+ Understanding importance of UX and role of good vs great for solution design and adoption decisions.

+ Excellent and demonstrated experience in organization and IT change-management.

+ Experience with cloud technologies - moving on premise to cloud.

+ Demonstrated experience in project management, portfolio management (PMP certification preferred)

+ Successfully implemented internal customer engagement framework that aligns team capabilities with IT solutions, and business needs.

+ Well rounded business technology experience (architecture, COTS, custom solutions, layered networks, servers/storage virtualization, database architecture, data integration/lakes/warehouses, ERP, web apps, data automation, ECM, mobile, Sharepoint, Quality Management Systems,).

+ Expert vendor management skills.

+ GMPs and software/system validation experiences strongly desired
