The Product Operations team is committed to delivering technology infrastructure in the most efficient and effective method using reusable, scalable solutions that possess industry standard security controls. The Google Cloud Engineer within the Product Operations infrastructure team is responsible for deploying infrastructure solutions that support our partners across the business.


You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops technical infrastructure solutions that are reusable in application and deliver compounding value to the organization
  • Provide feedback, analysis and strategic recommendations across the business for software/architecture/infrastructure solutions
  • Conduct use case testing for new software/hardware/infrastructure platforms
  • Evaluate & monitor deployed processes and working parameters for software compatibility
  • Defines project scope and objectives based on business needs combined with a thorough understanding of enterprise systems and requirements
  • This role will interface with multiple business units to test/procure/establish new technologies that deliver reusable solutions to solve business objectives
  • Serves as the subject matter expert seeking alignment of enterprise system strategies with the business goals and strategic objectives
  • Uses strong critical thinking skills along with business knowledge to have insight and understanding of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field (Four additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree)
  • 5+ years of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Cloud Functions)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's US Telecommuting Policy
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to health care system data (clinical health information systems, EHR, Health Insurance systems)
  • Experience with relational, columnar, and/or graph database engines (BigQuery, SQL Server, Postgres, Neo4j, Amazon Neptune)
  • Modeling experience (machine learning)
  • Experience with Python, R, SQL
  • GCP certifications (e.g. Professional Cloud Architect and/or GCP Professional Cloud Developer certification)
