Auto req ID: 239999BR Job Description Main purpose: Instrumental to accelerate and strengthen the growth & development of the Design and Innovation capability across FLNA (Frito Lay North America) Management of holistic design portfolio for Frito Lays North America across touch points Co-lead the Innovation agenda with business, R&D stakeholders and the Design Innovation team Strengthen and develop further collaboration with sales team to unlock existing and new customers opportunities Accountabilities: The Senior Director of FLNA Design is a senior design leader responsible for the identification, creation, management, and execution of comprehensive brand design strategies that will have a major impact on the innovation and growth of multibillion dollars brands across the global PepsiCo organization This individual will need to effectively manage and influence cross-functional teams that includes brand design, innovation, product design, experiential design, marketing, consumer insights, R&D, and operations to successfully deliver strategically aligned and commercially viable projects. S/he will be responsible for the co-creation, management, and execution of a comprehensive brand design and innovation strategy that will impact the growth agendas for FLNAs portfolio of beverage brands. The Head of Design for Frito Lay North America will be responsible for all aspects of the front-end design process, ranging from problem definition, performing and analyzing consumer research, to brainstorming and visualizing ideas. S/he is fueled by imagination and creativity and likes the challenge of creating what has not yet been created. S/he helps solve unique and complex problems that have broad impact on PepsiCo's business growth. They are also focused on new creation driven through the lens of the PepsiCo consumer. The person in this role will be accountable for supporting the development and delivery of a wide range of from initial ideation, through concept development, to commercialization. The person in this role will work closely with internal and external partners to develop design projects that satisfy consumer needs and the growth of PepsiCo's portfolio. This means creatively conceptualizing innovative brand design systems and planning, organizing, and implementing consistent design/production principles. Informing and co-creating the North America strategy Strategic Design Leadership: Participate in the creation of strategies for North America by bringing the voice of FLNA to the forefront by liaising with Regional design heads. Demonstrates an ability to understand the technical, social and emotional values that have critical business significance. Maintain a flow of value through the integration of the business strategies, market and social trends, and available technologies. Develop and adjust strategies and/or process to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Design R&D and Innovation: Identify and promote self-initiated brand design programs that generate critical business value for one or more business groups, having great impact on multibillion dollars brands. Provides design leadership around customer trends and testing, customer research, strategic planning, and holistic design principlesBrand Design Development: Takes ownership of the visual identity for the Snacks portfolio, working in collaboration with the Global Head of Design, Foods and the other design leaders in the organization, cutting across brand, innovation, product, packaging, marketing, experience and advertising. Generates creative design proposals (visions, scenarios, concepts) in order to visualize the desired output and share it with internal and external team members. Participates in research activities and effectively translates customer needs into actionable design requirements. (role accountable for: making decisions and executing actions) Reverse innovation. Innovation for the region aligned to global principles that could be leveraged in parallel as a global project Identifying and promoting self-initiated brand design programs that generate business value for North America Lead and influence cross-functional teams in the development of new products from ideation, concept development to commercialization Generates creative design proposals (visions, scenarios, concepts) in order to visualize the desired output and share it with internal and external team members, leverage design tools (e.g. sketching, prototypes, video etc.) to bring their vision to life Creates passion, conviction, and momentum around the right areas of opportunityBuild local expertise & External Network Talent Development: Responsible for hiring, leading and mentoring internal staff. Establishes objectives, supervises activities, and coaches & manages performance. Leads the expansion of talent bench depth, building office atmosphere and coaching teams to win. Acts as the lead for the FLNA design organization helping to build and cultivate a strong internal and external design network Qualifications/Requirements Require a senior person who can drive and influence a step change for FLNA Design 2.0 to penetrate new markets and new lines of business and new design capability to drive increased and sustainable results Capabilities will include: Brand & Experiential design, increased product design FEI and LT innovation. Including new business opps w/customer / foodservice and more priorities for the regions. Will require partnership and influencing with Sr. VP levels across FLNA and Global Category leadership. 18+ years of experience in a variety of positions both in house and agency Design Creative Storyteller able to articulate brand stories across touch points. Some consumer-packaged goods experience preferred with a track record of identifying and delivering against key strategic priorities Highly analytical, motivated, decisive thought leader with excellent managerial skills Strategic mindset with an ability to think broadly, refine question, and influence multiple decision makers Strong focus on talent development Highly collaborative & demonstrated success building trust-based relationships across different cultures Global acumen and curiosity to understand global macro-trends and potential impacts on business Communication skills that is able to educate and influence management and senior leaders to act in a desired manner through written and verbal communication Analytical and negotiating skills as evidence by high intelligence, strong financial and analytical capabilities and the proven ability to develop, sell and drive suitable partnerships, alliances, or other transactions to closure.
