What could you accomplish with Walmart?Job Title:Sr. Director Data CompliancePosition Summary:As part of Walmarts Global Data team, this role will be a key enabler of our journey to be the world's leading data-driven retailer. This is a legal / technical leadership position that will be responsible for ensuring compliance with our Data Governance Strategy with the goal to protect the company and maximize the value of the Companys data. The key areas of work involve partnering with the business and Global Data to ensure that the data solutions being built on our Global Data platform take into account best practices around data and its appropriate use. This role will be the legal subject matter expert and support the roll out of the Global Data policies, standards, and platforms globally. As a self-motivated leader in our team, you will be working across the business, engineering, data governance, data acquisition, data science, data monetization etc. to understand the emerging needs of making Walmart more data driven. Your charter will include ensuring that from ideation through to deployment, that these services meet our legal standards and adhere to our Data Governance Strategy. A wide degree of creativity, relationship building, and thought leadership will be required to fulfill this role. Job Responsibilities: \tHelp develop strategic vision and roadmap for enabling Walmarts Digital Transformation to make better decisions with Data. \tAbility to use subject matter expertise to develop and implement best practice around data collection, access, and usage. \tStructure inbound and outbound data agreements to best protect the company and maximize the value of the Companys data. \tLiaise with key stakeholders domestically and internationally to support rollout of Global policies and standards. \tProvide subject matter expertise and legal analysis for data related matters. \tInform organization on potential impact of global and local data legislation. \tKey player in ensuring cross-functional data implications of product decisions are surfaced with relevant parties. \tWork with key internal stakeholders in the review of projects and related data to ensure compliance with Data Governance Strategy, and where necessary, complete and advise on legal impact. \tContribute to the enterprise Data Strategy, playing a primary role in critical elements such as developing and executing strategies for implementation of new processes to address regulatory changes. \tBuild strong collaborative partnerships in and across organizations. \tCommunicate effectively on progress, issues, resolution and plans at all levels, including executives and leadership. \tInstill the culture driving results in an iterative, agile fashion, balancing risk and speed. \tResearch and recommend new products, tools and applications as they relate to the domain. Job Requirements: \t15+ years of professional experience in data-intensive companies, in roles that were responsible for data governance and data management. \t10+ years of team leadership development and management. \tRecognized as a thought leader in the space of current Data industry challenges that span a data-value chain, and encompasses the ability to play both offense and defense to deliver on corporate objectives \tEntrepreneurial attitude, and ability to drive change and navigate ambiguity when building new capabilities in an enterprise setting. \tStrong problem solving skills coupled with the ability to negotiate contemporary terms and positions. \tBackground in managing teams and partnering with technology/IT leaders is highly desirable. \tComplete understanding of business requirements gathering and analysis process. \tExcellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. \tPassion for serving customers, understanding their needs and delivering above and beyond their expectations. \tStrong executive relationship building and communicationMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Data Architecture, or related field and 7 years' experience in data stewardship, data management, database administration, data analytics, or related field.Additional Preferred Qualifications: MBA, JD, B.S. Strong executive relationship building and communication skills, and experience in driving results across teams in different disciplines (product, security, sales, legal, compliance, HR, etc.), Experience working in a global environment, both with internal and external stakeholders, is a plus.Category:Data Analytics Brand:Walmart.com
