The Financial Reporting Department within Canadian Finance is responsible for the Firm's month-end close process, management reporting, financial statements, and ensuring that there are appropriate internal controls over financial reporting for the Canadian business.

This unique position will play a key role in ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place to support our growing business environment, through working closely with business areas and Internal Audit, as well as involvement on key firm and division projects and strategies.

This role will also have involvement in supporting month-end close processes and management reporting. This position calls for the ability to successfully develop relationships with associates within the Finance Division and across the organization, and then leverage those relationships to effectively implement change.

Key Responsibilities:

-Involvement with recording, controlling, analyzing, and reporting the firm's results of operations and/or financial condition. This will include the communication of financial information to all levels of the organization.
-Month-end financial close, including reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, documenting performance of internal controls, and assisting with the year-end audit process
-Build, maintain, and leverage relationships to gather critical information and influence key decisions. This involves communication and coordination both within and outside the organization.
-Analyze, document, and monitor financial processes and controls related to the firm's business cycles.
-Proactively identify efficiencies and control improvements, propose solutions to key stakeholders, and drive implementation of solutions.
-Demonstrate the ability to understand financial concepts and analyze financial data. Inform and educate other business areas as to the financial impacts of potential business decisions they are responsible for making.
-Associate may participate in and/or lead cross functional teams responsible for implementing finance business objectives

* Education/Experience
* A Bachelor's degree is required, with emphasis in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred.
* CPA or advanced degree preferred.
* 4+ years of relevant experience is required.
* Financial services or brokerage industry experience preferred.

* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects, while also completing regular responsibilities, working effectively independently and in a team environment
* Ability to make decisions; communicates and appropriately defends beliefs and opinions, summarizing complex concepts and clearly communicate to firm leadership
* Solid understanding of accounting principles, including financial statements
* Strong analytical skills to aid in the development of business insights and inform business decisions
* Proactively research issues, analyze business processes and develop more efficient and effective procedures
* Ability to adapt to change, think strategically and deliver results

* Communication Skills
* Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with internal and external parties including associates, leaders, and business partners
* Displays confidence in one's ability to make decisions; communicates and appropriately defends beliefs and opinions
* Ability to summarize complex concepts and clearly communicate to firm leadership

* Technical Skills
* Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
* Understanding of PeopleSoft Financials is a plus.

* Ability to anticipate, analyze, and recommend solutions to divisional and firm-wide leadership for a broad spectrum of business improvement opportunities in a clear and concise manner

* Decisions made based on financial information and recommendations provided through this role generally have a moderate to high impact on firm performance and strategy

* To successfully influence decision making, this position requires a broad understanding of the inter-connectivity and dependencies of the departments/divisions with one another and ability to clearly articulate how they impact Firm operations and initiatives
