The SQL DBA assess a projects technical feasibility, as well as implementation risks. They are responsible for designing and implementing a projects technical architecture, creating and managing multiple databases, and assisting in capacity planning. Leading all the technical efforts to successfully migrate a new customer into the RapidScale platform.

Monitoring, maintaining database systems and troubleshooting problems that may arise. Maintaining data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users). Using tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning. Generating traces, execution plans, identifying performance issues, deadlocks/contention, and resolving them. Developing strategies and implementing solutions for managing back-ups, restorations, and replications. Creating and managing constraints and indexes. Proactive housekeeping/archiving and shrinking of databases. The SQL DBA needs to have knowledge of all the different aspects of the technical delivery as well as robust business knowledge. They will work very closely with

Solutions Engineers, Senior Cloud Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and the Project Management Office (PMO) for all new customer implementations. The position will be a key factor in providing a great customer experience pre and post implementation..

Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Duties include but are not limited to):

1. Install, configure, and maintain all SQL Server instances across development, staging, and production environments

2. Ensure database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are designed and executed to meet SLA objectives

3. Advise on DB design, tuning options, and best practices

4. Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after hours and weekends

5. Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms

6. Baseline system performance and monitor for deviation, recommending and implementing improvements to slow running queries

7. When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware changes, server configuration changes, or index/query changes

8. Expertise in Always-On Availability Groups (AAG) and HA/DR Setup and Configuration

9. Expert in Using DMVs, Performance dash board, Mirroring, database snapshots and tracking Performance Counters.

10. Working knowledge in database recovery from backup in disasters. Implementing Point-In-Time Recovery solutions.

11. Involved in Source Data Analysis, analysis and designing mappings for data extraction also responsible for Design and Development of SSIS Packages to load the Data from various Databases and Files.

12. Experience in using SQL Server Profiler, SQL Server Agent, and Database Engine Tuning Advisor(DTA).

13. Responsible for monitoring and making recommendations for performance improvement in hosted databases.

14. This involved index creation, index removal, index modification, file group modifications, and adding scheduled jobs to re-index and update statistics in databases.

15. Experience in Data partitioning, Error Handling through TRY-CATCH-THROW statement, Common Table Expression (CTE).

16. SQL server reporting experience (SSRS) to develop DBA related reports.

- Database backup and restore techniques

- Database corruption resolution and recovery techniques

- Database migration and version upgrade techniques

- Technical documentation: creating and maintaining

- Microsoft Windows Clustering

- Transactional Replication and associated maintenance techniques for replicated databases.

- VMware

- PowerShell or another scripting language

- Support of SQL Server Integration Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services

- Windows Server 2003 - 2016
