Aramark Canada is currently seeking skilled Sous-Chefs to join the Dalhousie Food Services team! Reporting to\u202fthe Residential Dining Manager/Executive Chef, the Sous-Chef\u202fis\u202fresponsible for\u202fsupporting the Executive Chef in providing\u202fculinary\u202fleadership\u202fin the planning, production, administration and management of a\u202fhigh quality food service\u202fat Dalhousie University. 



Essential Functions


  • In the absence of the Executive Chef, plan, direct and guide\u202fculinary team\u202fin the execution of daily food service in a manner that meets/exceeds operational and financial targets, working alongside front line staff when necessary\u202f\u202f 
  • Leads and\u202fmonitors Cooks and Food Service Workers adherence to all Aramark operating standards and legislated standards within the component including company policy and procedure\u202f 
  • Remain compliant with regards to all OH&S policies, procedures and required activities (i.e. updated safety boards, inventory on First Aid Kits, proper chemical handling, monthly safety talks etc.)\u202f 
  • Assists with\u202fonboarding,\u202fcoaching and developing culinary staff\u202f 
  • Assist with weekly inventory\u202fand product ordering.\u202f 
  • Standardizes production recipes to ensure consistent quality\u202f 
  • Perform other duties as assigned\u202f 


  • 5+ years experience in culinary field\u202frequired\u202f 
  • 2+ years experience in leadership role required 
  • Culinary degree or Red Seal\u202fconsidered an asset\u202f 
  • Strong relationship building skills with clients and customers\u202f 
  • Experience with food and labour costing\u202f 
  • Assertive, professional and positive with ability to lead in a stressful environment\u202f 
  • Must be flexible, as some evenings and weekends may be required 
  • Must\u202fbe\u202fable\u202fto\u202fwork\u202findependently\u202fwith limited supervision\u202f 
  • Requires\u202foccasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling\u202fof up\u202fto\u202f25\u202flbs.\u202f
