Serve as top-level technical authority on leading edge, complex, state-of-the art technologies and/or techniques. Is a senior leader of the organization who serves as leader, collaborator, innovator, role model, champion and subject matter expert.

***This is a senior API lead position that requires hands-on development skills as well as project/program leadership skills.***

Deliver highly complex solutions with significant system linkages, dependencies, associated risk.
Lead and perform development efforts such as analysis, design, coding/creating, and testing. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Will be responsible for interface analysis, rationalization, declaration & definition, development and implementation of Digital APIs.
  • The position will provide leadership as well as play key role in delivery of secure, optimized, high quality, and well-integrated APIs. The position requires working with Digital Applications Teams, Line of businesses, Enterprise Architecture team, Enterprise API Delivery and other technology teams to simplify technology ecosystem.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight on creation of APIs from end to end perspective and instruct direct, and review the work of other associates, contractors, and strategic partner resources that are part of the team.
  • Provide input on performance management and personnel decisions.
  • Work with Digital Platform Delivery teams, Digital Channel and Innovation LOBs, Enterprise Architecture and cyber security teams to rationalize Digital banking API solutions, define integration approach.
  • Lead end-to-end internal and external API design, development, deployment, testing, delivery, and documentation for web services Microservices, and API gateway delivery.
  • Leverage API Platforms like CA Layer 7, Mulesoft and TIBCO API platforms to deliver solution on API Gateway and provide state of the art Developer Portal experience.
  • Collaborate with business and technical team to define API development and integration design requirements.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications from which API program and integration aspects that will be technically developed.
  • Implement API services integration design patterns related to authentication, authorization, logging and error recovery.
  • Design and develops API components on-premise, hybrid cloud as well as public cloud environments.
  • Work on multiple highly visible, business critical projects and initiatives simultaneously. 


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and six to ten years of experience or equivalent education and software engineering training or experience In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function
  • Ability to plan and manage projects and solve complex problems by applying best practice
  • Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.
  • Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information
  • Education, Background and Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent field required
  • 7+ years of information technology industry work experience required
  • 5+ years of hands-on design, development, and implementation experience in API and ESB Development, deployment of REST APIs, and Microservices using CA Layer 7 / Mulesoft / TIBCO and Java technologies required
  • 3+ years of experience in creating secure services by design using SOA/Microservices, ESB technologies for large scale enterprise
  • Must have strong building and consuming working experience of REST & SOAP API and Microservices
  • Experience with SOA, Web Services and large distributed systems required
