Deliver moderately complex solutions. Design, code, test, debug, and document moderately complex application solutions that meet defined business requirements and the enterprise performance and architecture standards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job.  Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.  Specific activities may change from time to time.   

  • Customize coding, software integration, perform analysis, and configure solutions, using tools that are pertinent/required for the area to which the person is assigned.
  • Conduct robust unit testing and provides support for subsequent release testing.
    Provide escalated support for applications in production.
  • Work independently on most phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities.
  • Provide direction in the development and maintenance of solutions as well as participates in various phases of the development life cycle.
  • Works under moderate supervision to analyze possible solutions using experience, judgment and precedents to solve a range of straightforward problems. 

In an Agile environment: 

  • Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and consulting with, the business from the beginning of the design work. 
  • Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. 
  • Actively participate in refining user stories. 
  • Responsible for development and developing unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. 
  • Responsible for providing warranty support and providing knowledge transfer to production support. 
  • Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.



Required Qualifications:

•    High School diploma or GED
•    Two years of experience as a developer or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
•    Knowledge in information systems and ability to apply that knowledge in practice
•    Ability to manage competing priorities
•    Ability to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgment and precedents
•    Experience participating in IT solutions 
•    Ability to communicate complex information in straightforward situations

Preferred Qualifications:

•    College degree in Computer Science, math or related field of study
•    Three years of experience in IT
•    Degree or training related directly to software engineering
•    Knowledge of specific applications, systems, or business segments, preferably DAY2, Cash Support, Image Retrieval, or Commercial Vault systems.
•    Banking or financial services experience.
•    Knowledge of one or more of the following:  Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills
•    Professional experience building apps or services from the ground up and scaling at an enterprise level
•    Experience with Open Source tools and frameworks
•    Strong understanding of SOA methodologies and service architectures. Experience using web servers, application containers, caching technologies. Solid knowledge of relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling)
•    Experience with messaging systems (i.e., MQ and JMS)
•    Proven ability to write comprehensive unit and integration tests

•    Experience with UNIX and Windows server technologies – including batch script coding
•    Experience with SQL and DB2 Database coding / server technologies
•    Understanding of Mainframe Batch (COBOL, MVS, CICS, JCL, and DB2) preferred
•    Experience with Mainframe and Server (Windows / UNIX) ESP Scheduling, Connect Direct, and FTP data transfer processes
