What You'll Do

Cisco High-Speed Design team is seeking a signal integrity engineer for design and analysis of high-speed components, interfaces and power distribution network. The candidate will participate in the definition and design of current and next generation photonic device, ASIC, package, printed circuit board (PCB), and system interconnect. The individual will be working in a larger team working closely with system architects, ASIC engineers, CAD engineers and other very talented and knowledgeable SI engineers in creation of next generation high performance networking products.

You will work in a highly collaborative, multi-functional environment that includes engineering, operations and supply chain teams to build next generation single and multi-mode photonics technologies within Cisco

What Youll do

The responsibilities will include but not limited to:

        Working directly with photonic device, ASIC, package and System design teams to evaluate design tradeoffs and optimize design performance / risk / cost / manufacturability

        Electromagnetic modeling of complex 3-dimensional structures

        Design and analysis of multi-tens-gigabit serial links and their compliance to internal specs and standards 

        Generating and verifying package layout rules: perform pre- and post-route signal integrity analysis of ASIC and PCB package designs

        Modeling and analyzing power delivery networks

        Performing physical measurements to collect data for design validation and simulation correlations

 

Skills and Qualifications:

        Self-motivation, Strong teamwork, Strong communication skills and Out of the box thinking with the strong desire to innovate are essential.

        Strong EM knowledge and in-depth expertise of EM simulation tools such as HFSS and CST.

        Working experience with high speed NRZ and PAM4 Serdes

        Hands on experience with high-speed PCB/package development

        Working experience with power integrity design and analysis and well versed in PI simulation tool such as PowerSI/DC, etc.

        Strong lab skills and measurement experience are required (VNA, TDR, Real Time Scope, BERT)

        Knowledge of optical components highly desired

        Education Requirements: BSEE combined with 3+ years of related experience, MSEE combined with 1+ year related experience, or newly graduated Ph.D. Candidate with an advanced degree preferred.
