The Senior SQL DBA is responsible for implementing and maintaining SQL servers & reporting systems for the Optum Medical Benefit Management (MBM)/OrthoNet Clinical Informatics Department (CID), which includes planning, development, testing, and deployment of processes for complex analytics & reporting.

This position requires experience in RDBMS/Data-warehouse along with demonstrated ability in driving and developing enterprise level data architecture, logical and physical database design and solutions for efficient reporting and analytics. 

Exceptional querying ability in T-SQL and hands-on experience with BI, ETL, Data Modeling and Big Data concepts in the healthcare and healthcare insurance Industry.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Analyze business processes and requirements develop and define information architecture design and build database to meet functional, performance and reporting requirements
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Company healthcare products and services
  • Develop and maintain the systems to support the data needs of CID.  This includes configuration of underlying hardware, operating systems, and database versioning and data footprint, monitor File Server needs and establish data security protocols
  • Design, implement and maintain data-mart / data warehouse to manage healthcare data and related performance KPIs and business logic as a Database Administrator
  • As an Application DBA, review existing programs to improve enhance existing data processing, code and database design for optimal performance
  • Monitor and manage scheduled batch jobs, performance & disk space
  • Design, develop & maintain technical specification and logic for critical data process and analysis including claims/ authorization reconciliation and data tables build to support CID ROI reporting and pre-sales analytic processes and reporting for all Company products and clienys
  • Design, develop and maintain auto-intake of external claims data, authorizations and other data received from all internal and external Company clients and customers on standard basis
  • Design and maintain Code Library of complex stored procedures to support CID data processing requirements; including maintenance of comprehensive systems documentation, clinical code table updates & Metadata & Master data management
