The selectedSoftware Engineer will provide support to a contract Perspecta has supporting the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NESDIS is responsible for the procurement of new flight and ground systems and the modification of existing systems needed to operate the satellites, and to collect, process, distribute, and store satellite data for the nations civilian environmental satellite (spacecraft and sensor) program.

This role will work with the NOAA teams supporting the Cloud Program Management Office (CPMO) at NOAA offices in Silver Spring, MD. This position is to support the CPMO with migrating pilot projects into operations in a Cloud Environment. The candidate will need to be able to understand the architecture and development methodology of the pilot projects and will support the development of cloud based applications but will not be developing the applications.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Primary CPMO POC to Science Algorithm (SA) development teams and supports development and containerizing of Science Algorithm for Product Generation
  • Supports development and maintenance of cloud-based applications
  • Provide technical leadership by designing and implementing core backend services and cloud capabilities
  • Implement developer best practices
  • Supports establishing and maintaining software configuration management
  • Brief non-technical executive and technical leadership to drive software engineering requirements



  • Requires BS Degree in technical discipline and 10+ years experience in engineering / IT or a MS Degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Cloud based application development
  • US Citizenship, eligibility to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance

Desired Skills

  • Amazon Web Services Associate level certification (Solutions Architect, Developer, SysOps Administrator)
  • Experience with NOAA science algorithms
