AT&T is currently seeking a corporate tropical meteorologist to join the AT&T Weather Operations Center (AWOC) team. Corporate meteorology is a growing field in which the team uses state-of-the-art meteorological tools and methodology to identify business specific meteorological risks. We continue to drive value across every aspect of the corporation, from our retail organization to our field operations team, by understanding our business assets and resources and the weather that affects them and deliver solutions and tools that enable our field and front-line teams to plan and respond to weather events. The purpose of daily weather intelligence dissemination to the various business units of AT&T supports the three corporate goals of weather sensitive cost mitigation, maximizing the customer experience, and safety. Additionally, the AWOC is the center of excellence (CoE) for all things weather-related within the Company. AWOC meteorologists support a variety of data driven projects within the Company that involve big data management and data analytics. There are two important specializations of significant value to AT&T: hydrology and tropical meteorology. This job requires an emphasis on weather forecasting and all that comes with covering tropical weather events, end-to-end. Work hours are typically weekdays with early hours to produce daily weather products in a timely fashion. Weekend duty is required on a rotational or as-needed basis.

BS (or higher) Meteorology / with tropical meteorology coursework or equivalent US Navy or US Air Force training and accreditation. 5 years of operational forecasting experience including tropical weather events is desired. This includes predicting the event and the specific impacts, and command of the various hurricane models. Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools is required. SQL data handling experience is desired. Good audio and visual communication skills is required including live conference-call and on-camera briefing ability. Additional desired skills include training and experience in the following: aviation weather, and wildfire support weather. Knowledge of the Baron Lynx weather workstation system is also desired. Broadcast meteorologists will certainly be considered as long as the core educational requirements are met.

Education: Bachelors of Science in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science or Engineering preferred.

Experience: Typically requires 5-8 years experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.
