We are seeking an experienced candidate specializing in mass spectrometry (MS) characterization of biotherapeutics. As part of the Analytical Research and Development (ARD) group, the candidate will join a cross-functional team responsible for development and implementation of LC/MS - peptide mapping methods for characterizing and monitoring quality attributes and purity of biotherapeutics.

Candidates should have excellent written and communication skills, effective time-management and an innovative spirit. The ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, team-oriented environment are essential for the position.

The candidate will serve as a mass spectrometry subject matter expert in the development of a LC/MS - peptide mapping multi-attribute method (MAM) for identification and quantitation of biotherapeutic quality attributes, including posttranslational/chemical modifications and purity. The candidate will support the development, qualification and implementation of MAM in non-GMP and GMP laboratories to support characterization, release and stability testing of biotherapeutic products. The candidate also will author test method and guidance documentation for MAM

The candidate is expected to proactively interact with instrument and software vendors for building knowledge and troubleshooting as well as to influence next generation hardware and software development.

PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field with 0-2 years experience or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field with 3-5 years relevant experience. In-depth training in protein sciences and proteomics applications. Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

A PhD with a minimum of 2-3 years of postdoctoral experience or 1-2 years industry experience is preferred.

Prior experience with development and optimization of quantitative LC/MS-peptide mapping techniques for protein characterization or proteomics applications is highly beneficial, in particular monitoring of posttranslational modifications and protein isoforms. Attention to detail, in terms of experimental setup, data analysis, and electronic notebook/report writing, is another important characteristic that the candidate must exercise on a daily basis in order to be successful.
