**ROLE SUMMARY**



This position will be reporting into the Molecular Pharmaceutics group at the Boulder Co location.The purpose of this position is toact as a resident pharmaceutical science subject matter expert toinfluencesmall moleculeearlydrugcandidateselection with respect todrug delivery,bio-performance, and stability. This positionwillcloselycollaboratewithcolleaguesin MedicinalChemistry,Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism, and Clinical Pharmacology. Thisrole will be responsible fordesigning, implementing, and interpretingin vitro,in silico,andin vivoexperiments,aswell as design of stage appropriate formulations for preclinical studies. An awareness of late stagedrug productdevelopment,aswell as an understanding of the diseasestate, drugtargetsanddrug-targetmechanismsof action,will help to enableand narrowthe definition of the required design elements.In additional to formulation, this role will be responsible for material scienceand physicochemical properties assessmentsof early drug candidates. This includes laboratory measurementsand interpretation of the data to inform manufacturing, bio-performance, and stability development risks.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Evaluate the physicochemical properties of potentialsmall moleculedrug candidates to inform a drug product formulation strategy and developability risk assessment

+ Design and develop fit for purposeand diagnosticdrug formulationsfor preclinical studies

+ Apply first principals understanding of thermodynamicsand kinetic processesto dissolution and precipitation of drugs in biorelevant conditions and physical state and chemical stabilityin the solid state.

+ Design, execute, andinterprettheresults of polymorph and salt screensforpotential drug candidates related to stability, manufacturability, and bio-performance

+ Provide technical guidance for regulatory submissions

+ Work in cross-disciplinary teams and partner with subject matter experts inMedicinal Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism,and Clinical Pharmacology departmentsto influence candidate selection and progression.Develop strategic collaborations with academic and industrial researchers for addressing gaps in fundamental or applied science related tothe pharmaceutical sciences

+ Conduct novel research and present significant findings via internal and external presentations or publications



**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**



+ PhD with0-3 year post-doctoralexperience,MS with5+ yearsexperience, or BS with8+ years experienceinChemical Engineering,Physical Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Biophysics, Physics, Physical Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Biochemistry

+ Candidates with experience in allied disciplines may also apply with the following qualifications: Ph.D. with minimum 3 years, MS with 7+ years, or BS with 12+ years of experience in industry

+ Experienceworking independently and collaboratively in a laboratory environment



**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**



+ Experience in breaking down and isolating the controlling physics of complex processes for experimental design

+ Experience in designing and conductinghypothesis driven laboratoryexperiments

+ Generating,interpreting, and integratingexperimental datainto mathematical models toprogress the understanding of complex materials and processes

+ Experience inpharmacokineticmodeling and simulationsusing Gastroplus, Simcyp,orPhoenix

+ Experience with formulationdesignforpreclinical studiesas well as drug product design forphase 1 clinical trials

+ Strong organizational skills, interpersonalskills,teamwork skills,strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and activities whilemanagingtighttimelines



**PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**



Includes activities in both laboratory and office settings; approximately70%/30%.Candidate must be able to perform routine laboratory testsand procedures. Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis.



**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**



15% travel (domestic and international)

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $80.000 to $133,300. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
