Senior Release Engineer

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our release engineering team to help refine our Software Development LifeCycle (SDLC) and further accelerate our organization to deliver software faster and better. The focus of this role is towards Release Engineering, CI/CD, (private) cloud and infrastructure automation.

Who Youll Work With

You will be joining the Cisco IoT Control Center organization, part of the Mass-scale Infrastructure Group within Cisco. Cisco IoT Control Center is the #1 market leading cellular connectivity management platform, managing 170M+ connected IoT devices (incl. 50M+ connected cars) for over 28,000 enterprises in 20 different industries. To achieve this, we build and operate 19DCs across the globe, and process over 900M+ API calls, as well as 42B+ (billion!) call records every month. Our global organization is responsible for all engineering and operational tasks of the Control Center product: feature development, release, production operations, customer support.

Responsibilities

Drive and implement improvements to our software delivery process by working together with various different teams and stakeholders across the organization.

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and release automation
• Optimize release engineering and release management processes
• Design and implement infrastructure automation
• Restructure tooling and processes to leverage fully cloud-native principles and technology
• Help drive the roll-out of our next-generation private cloud platform
• Data-driven capacity modelling and planning

The Minimum Skills for this role are

• Proven technical leadership with Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps and/or SRE principles and processes
• Overall broad exposure to software engineering (databases, security, system design, operating systems, distributed systems, messaging, etc) and all parts of the Software Development LifeCycle (Dev, Release, QA, Ops, Observability, Security, etc)
• Prior hands-on experience with operating complex software services at scale
• 5+ years working with Linux-based systems (processes, configuration, networking, security, packaging)
• 3+ years working with cloud systems (e.g: AWS, GCP, Openshift, Openstack, Kubernetes) and virtualization (e.g: KVM, VMWare, Docker). Prior experience with operating IaaS platforms a big plus.
• 3+ years working with CI/CD systems (e.g.: Jenkins, Gitlab CI, Spinakker)
• 3+ years working with automation and configuration management systems (e.g.: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Saltstack, Chef)
• 3+ years programming experience with python/go/ruby or similar for infrastructure automation work
