As aSenior Pharmacy Technician, you'll be responsible for following USP 797/800 guidelines and proper aseptic technique to make sterile compounded medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The compounding technician is also responsible for maintaining a clean and highly organized workspace.

This role is equally challenging and rewarding. As a pharmacy team member, you'll help identify problems and determine solutions both independently or in a team / group setting. Positions in this function perform various duties related to the 503A facility, including cleaning and disinfecting the clean room. The physical demands and work environment are characteristic of those found in a typical 503A environment with potential exposure to hazardous drugs. Some travel may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Compound IV Medications in a clean room environment
  • ""
  • Use USP 797/800 guidelines for sterile compounding
  • ""
  • Compound both acute and specialty medications
  • ""
  • Maintain pharmacy clean room in a clean, organized manner according to SOPs
  • ""
  • Responsible for clean room environment and daily / weekly / monthly cleaning of room and equipment according to SOPs
  • ""
  • Pharmacy technician with an eye for detail and strong communication skills
  • ""
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand variable compounding modalities and to work independently but understand the need to consult with the pharmacist if questions arise
  • ""
  • Basic tasks are completed without review by others
  • ""
  • May need to assist with other areas of the pharmacy
  • ""
  • Resolve customer issues while ensuring accurate information is provided
  • ""
  • Positions in this function perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders.

  • Familiarity with and adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures relevant to a sterile technician
  • ""
  • Assist pharmacists with any assigned tasks
  • ""
  • Engage in professional communication with the supervisors, supply chain, pharmacists, manager, quality, and/or General Manager

  • Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate with Quality and Compliance departments as needed for meetings, change controls, procedural updates, or suggestions for process improvements

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy Technician licensing and registration as required by the state of Texas
  • ""
  • Sterile Compounding Certification obtained through completion of a single course, a minimum of 40 hours of instruction
  • ""
  • 1+ year of previous IV Compounding experience
  • ""
  • 1+ years of Pharm Tech Experience
  • ""
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • ""
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB)
  • ""
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location.
  • ""
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas, In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.
