The Sr. Payroll Accountant is responsible for the financial accounting (statutory/GAAP Accounting) of payroll deductions, taxes, receivables and bank transactions.  This position will abide by Sarbanes Oxley controls, Finance policies and company standards in day-to-day work.

 

The Sr. Payroll Accountant will partner with the Payroll team to identify and help resolve reconciling issues timely, as well as finding opportunities for improving processes. This position will have dotted line reporting into the Corporate Accounting team.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Payroll account reconciliations on a monthly basis; research outstanding items and resolve within  the company standard amount of time
  • Document reconciliation procedures that incorporate functional business processes
  • Create and document journal entries
  • Act as a functional SME for Payroll accounting
  • Demonstrate understanding of intercompany relationships and organizational structures (e.g., segments, legal entities) needed to record inter/intracompany transactions
  • Support Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP/SAP and internal policies and controls through accounting process
  • Support the GL structure and provide recommendations on potential changes as needed
  • Demonstrate understanding of the payroll processes to research and resolve outstanding items in the reconciliation
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees
  • Troubleshoot and work with Payroll team to proactively solve issues
  • Support and train others on the team in best practice financial processes
  • Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external customers
  • Other projects as assigned
