Responsibilities

The Senior Network/System Administrator is responsibile for applying technical expertise to develop technical solutions to complex network problems and exercising latitude in determining objectives and approaches to solutions for network operation of a multi-user computer network, including coordination with system administrators and network engineers. Performs installation and administration hardware, software and services in client-server environment and ensures networks are administered, operated and maintained inaccordance with applicable directives. Provides ongoing network technical support, addresses availability issues, overcomes performance problems and issues. Responsible for applying network engineering concepts and all layers of the OSI and DOD TCP/IP model. Installs and maintains the application of network devices such as routers, switches, bridges, and hubs. Implements wide area and local area network architecture and applies principles associated with the use of LAN topologies. Responsible for supporting the application of network security devices at Tier 0, Tier 1, and Tier 2 of network architecture. Reports on overall network performance including frequent problems, underlying issues and plans to improve network availability, performance and problem resolution. Responsible for researching, documenting, and tracking to resolution all outages, trouble calls, virus outbreaks, and network intrusions. Utilizes the provided toolset to accurately analyze and report on the overall health of local and deployed networks. Implements and coordinates network policies, procedures and standards. Enforces network security procedures. Provides general IT management support, general networking, Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) enterprise, CONUS and OCONUS deployment/TDY travel, functional training, technical and general O&M, documentation and reports, and meetings/briefings to support Air Force Central Command (AFCENT) Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) operations.


Qualifications

B.S. in related field, and 5 or more years relevant experience (preferred); OR 7 or more years relevant experience.
Security+ or CCNA-Sec
Unix, MCSA, CCNA, Firewall, VCA, and ITIL Foundation

Current Secret clearance
