Cox Automotive is adding to its accounting Center of Excellence team.

The BlackLine & Chart of Accounts, Governance Owner, Enterprise Finance & Accounting Process CoE is a critical leadership position that oversees the delivery and support for the BlackLine reconciliation management solution, as well as stewardship of the companys chart of accounts (COA). This position reports directly to the Senior Director - Finance Continuous Process Improvement and serves as a partner by engaging with business leaders within the company to anticipate business issues and drive strong decision making through sound financial management and application of accounting expertise.

This position will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Cox Automotive BlackLine and charts of accounts (COA) governance teams. Within BlackLine this includes responsibility for overseeing the deployment, adoption, and optimization of the BlackLine tool, including journal entries, account reconciliations, match sets, and financial close tasks. Within chart of accounts this position will ensure the COA meets the information needs of management, as well as financial reporting standards. This role will be responsible to consult with business partners (Enterprise Accounting, Finance, Operations) and the IT team on a regular basis. Effective management of BlackLine is a responsibility that will enable Cox Automotive to optimize and mitigate risk in its processes, while the COA provides a framework for identifying, aggregating, and reporting financial transactions including key performance indicators.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, continuous process improvement, change management, governance, and communication experience in a global organization, with a track record leading a high performing team and implementing best practices.

Job Responsibilities:

BlackLine & Chart of Account Management:

* Direct day-to-day activities of the Process Center of Excellence as they relate to BlackLine

* Direct day-to-day activities of the Process Center of Excellence as it relates to maintaining the COA

* Accountable for all process standards related to BlackLine and maintaining the COA including data, reporting, systems security / user access, compliance, financial controls, change management and process excellence

* Identify, govern, and prioritize Chart of Accounts-related technology enhancements, while partnering with Technology

* Manage BlackLine training efforts as new users are onboarded to the tool

* Drive account reconciliation, journal entry, and financial close reporting through BlackLine (i.e., aged items, unreconciled balances, overdue close tasks)

* Identify, govern, prioritize, and adjudicate technology enhancements, partnering with Technology to build and support the deployment of ongoing roadmap of solutions

* Build a metrics and performance management strategy and culture, driving measurable business results, including tracking adoption of BlackLine as well as adherence to COA policy

Leadership & Organizational Development:

* Manage employee hiring, training, and motivation of the department of approximately 4-5 employees, including utilization of performance management to ensure results and to develop team members for future growth

* Develop and implement goals, priorities and procedures relating to BlackLine and COA. Responsible for tracking and meeting those goals and ensuring adherence to those policies and procedures

* Identify best practices, efficiencies and strategic methods to BlackLine and master data solutions across Cox Automotives Accounting organization

* Work with IT/BlackLine developers and maintenance team to build and test enhancements to current processes

* Manage a robust governance process for modifying the COA, which includes leading the COA Steering Committee meetings

* Coordinate with operational Readiness team to provide oversight of BlackLine and COA related communications to ensure consistency, impactful delivery, and key messaging across Cox Automotive

* Work with internal and external auditors annually and/or as needed based on their requests for information


Bachelors degree in Business, Finance and/or Accounting

Advanced Degree and/or CPA preferred.

10+ years of accounting or finance experience re

3+ years of experience in a management or leadership role

2+ years of BlackLine experience required, ideally a mix of experience as a user and as a system administrator

Proven ability to influence and to collaborate at the highest levels of corporate management

Strong background in financial close process optimization and related controls

Significant experience with continuous improvement and project management - Six Sigma Green Belt and/or PMP a plus

Proven track record in successfully leading high performing teams with tight deadlines and improving efficiencies

Experience in managing large-scale, high volume financial systems and multiple finance functions

Experience within a Center of Excellence environment a plus

Global experience in a multinational organization a plus

Strong leadership and people management skills including demonstrated ability to coach and mentor employees

Strong troubleshooting, configuration, navigation skills across BlackLine modules

Experience governing master data management in a global organization a plus

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Ability to work effectively under pressure, and shift priorities quickly as required and rapidly adapt to changing environments

Ability to understand business strategy and translate into effective tactical plans

Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems

Strong computer skills and proficient use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Strong knowledge of Oracle Financials
