Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) is focused on developing therapies for inherited diseases, including non-malignant hematological disorders. The successful candidate will be a member of the Non-Malignant Hematology Research team developing multiple approaches to transformative therapies of blood related conditions including Sickle Cell Disease and beta-Thalassemia, among others. The candidate will also be part of an interdisciplinary team partnering closely with other RDRU colleagues. This particular role will have a strong focus on implementing in vitro assays to characterize potential therapies, interpreting and delivering high quality data, and effectively presenting results at team meetings. The candidate is expected to make significant technical contributions by using established methodologies and will be encouraged to practice novel technical approaches.


+ Develop and perform wide range of hematological in vitro and cell-based assays

+ Generate and interpret data for presentation at project meetings

+ Effectively balance resources as needed to achieve timely execution of projects across multiple research teams.

+ Willingness to learn from other scientists and implement new techniques.

+ Work collaboratively with project teams

+ Fast learner that can quickly adapt to changing project needs



+ Bachelor's degree with > 2 years of experience in a Biomedical Research (Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or equivalent)

+ Experience in laboratory research required with strong skills in basic molecular biology and in vitro assays: ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blot analysis, immunoprecipitation and cell culture).

+ Demonstrated ability to drive for results and generate innovative solutions with minimum supervision.

+ Applicants should be self-motivated, organized, capable of working independently in a collaborative environment.

+ The successful candidate will possess strong oral and written communication skills.


+ Strong cell culture skills, including work with primary cells, manipulation of gene expression and subsequent analyses (qPCR and flow cytometry).

+ Sound understanding and prior work in Hematology research is a benefit.
