The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Senior Application Analyst-Laboratory Systems.

The Senior Application Analyst Laboratory Systems supports the implementation of UHS Lab and Lab Related applications in a Multi-Entity, 26 plus Acute Care Hospital Environment. Designs new or determines modifications to existing applications that will effectively accomplish desired objectives. Provides technical support to UHS entities and customers as needed. Coordinates work assignments given in order to meet deadlines and ensure continued progress toward assignment completion. Shares experience and expertise with other members of team. Serves as lead on Lab System Conversions and Implementations. May supervise one or more IS Analysts.

Key Responsibilities include:

System Maintenance/Support:

  • Researches and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets including major application upgrades, routine day-to-day support, break-fix, maintenance and other issues within established SLA standards.
  • Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies.
  • Provides on-call support as scheduled.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communications with user community.
  • Assists in performing routine system maintenance and builds.

System Implementation:

  • Regularly meets with users, vendors, facility lab directors and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications.
  • Designs solutions for applications and prepares the appropriate documentation.
  • Supervises development of test data, system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle.
  • Performs Q/A on application functionality.
  • Researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets.
  • Actively participates in projects as warranted and adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards.
  • Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management.
  • Oversees the training of users in operating procedures for application.
  • Maintains the Lab Conversion and Implementation Project Plans and actively meets with stakeholders to drive project related tasks, communications and milestones.

Administration and Oversight:

  • Effectively trains analysts in performance of their duties as required
  • Provides technical support and guidance to other team members as required
  • Maintains Service Excellence principles
  • Prepares and promptly submits all routine and special reports.
  • Interviews applicants for vacant positions as needed using appropriate interview techniques.
  • Contributes to performance evaluation of junior staff members as needed.
  • Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems via established communication protocols and routine Status Updates.

Continuing Education:

  • Keeps up-to-date on relevant Laboratory System Version Changes, Bug-Fix, and release notes
  • Keeps abreast on relevant Regulatory Requirements that impact the Laboratory System such as JCAHO, FDA, CAP, CLIA and various State Laboratory Regulations.
  • Actively participates in increasing education of the Laboratory System functionality through Webinars, User Group meetings, Vendor Classes and List Serve, etc.
Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Five or more years of Information Systems experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Three to five years of Cerner Millennium experience, particularly within the PathNet suite of modules to include but not limited to Gen Lab, Microbiology, Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, MDI (Careaware iBUS), CCL and DA2 Reporting, Reference Lab, and Outreach knowledge a plus.

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of system application implementation, enhancement and support methods and practices.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Lab and related computer systems such as instrument interfaces and Order Management Systems, analysis and programming techniques and procedures, including: consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, coding, debugging, or modification of computer systems or programs based on and related to user design specifications.
  • Working knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics.
  • Working knowledge of project management methods. General familiarity of user business practices, concepts and terminology sufficient to support the applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

License or Registration Requirements: Cerner Production Support Experience Required

Travel Requirements: 5 25% domestic US travel (depending on projects).
