We are seeking a Senior Analytics Consultant for our Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team. The Senior Analytics Consultant will lead the development of analysis plans for research protocols and act as a subject matter expert on analytic methods. This role is responsible for project documentation, creating analytic data sets, data verification, execution of advanced statistical analyses, and interpretation of results. This role requires an in-depth working knowledge of secondary data assets in applied research settings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to reputation of OptumLabs as an industry thought leader by providing analytics expertise to guide the design, execution, and application of analytic results.
  • ""
  • Provide senior consultation on the application of advanced analytics to address key research objectives and/or inform United and Optum business strategies.
  • ""
  • Advise on the design of studies using a wide array of health data including administrative claims data, EHR data, lab data, social determinants of health data, physician-reported measures, and patient-reported outcomes
  • ""
  • Develop detailed statistical analysis plans for study protocols
  • ""
  • Lead the creation of analytic data sets
  • ""
  • Complete project analysis documentation according to department standards
  • ""
  • Lead analytic and/or data workgroups dedicated to improving our analytics capacity and data assets. Seek continual learnings to improve project execution. Identify root causes of technical or quality problems.
  • ""
  • Contribute to the development of manuscripts for publication
  • ""
  • Participate in presentations/workshops for internal and external audiences
  • ""
  • Train analytics staff and researchers on analytic methods, data use, and other aspects of observational research
  • ""
  • Manage and mentor junior analytics staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in health services research, health economics, statistics, epidemiology, sociology, psychology or equivalent
  • ""
  • 5+ years of research experience with claims data, EHR, or complex relational health care databases
  • ""
  • 5+ years of experience programming in SAS (including proc SQL), SQL, and/or R
  • ""
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe.
