The Cancer Immunology Discovery (CID) group in La Jolla, CA is focused on the generation of large molecule immunotherapeutics that promote anti-tumor activity or counter immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment. CID's efforts are supported by a world class antibody generation program, and a commitment to effective biotherapeutic design that stresses both ingenuity and simplicity.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join us at a Scientist level to contribute to our antibody discovery activities. The successful candidate will work closely with individuals in protein engineering and immunology/oncology groups to innovate and develop the next-generation of protein therapeutics for cancer immunotherapy.


+ Carry out hands-on lab work to assist in the high-throughput screening of antibodies from hybridomas using SPR and BLI (epitope binning, epitope identification).

+ In depth biophysical characterization of purified antibodies via SPR (and ELISA).

+ Production of antibodies using various formats (bispecific, etc.)

+ Help to build a culture that embraces scientific excellence, continuous learning, and increasing the team's ability to deliver novel drug development opportunities through the rapid incorporation of emerging biotechnologies to ensure our team continues research on the leading-edge of oncology drug discovery.


+ BS/MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related discipline with a minimum of 2-5 years of laboratory experience. Previous industrial experience is strongly preferred.

+ Technical expertise should include antibody expression and purification, cell-culture.


+ Antibody sequencing preferably in 96-well format (RT-PCR).

+ Excellent hands-on experiences in antibody affinity measurements using Biacore T200, Biacore 8K and/or Octet HTX.

+ Experienced in cloning, protein expression and protein purification using FPLC (affinity, SEC, IEX).

+ Experienced in cell-culture, ELISA

+ Strong understanding of molecular biology and protein biochemistry.

+ Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.

+ Excellent communication and presentation skills.

+ Advanced molecular design proficiency.

+ Hands-on experience with instruments such as GE AKTA Pure/Avant, Perkin-Elmer LabChip, liquid handling robots.

The successful candidate will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication, maintain an electronic notebook, and present scientific results to collaborators and at team meetings. This position will not have any direct reports. There will be less than 5% travel.
