This is a laboratory-based position. In this role, the individual will support the development and qualification of cell- and antibody-based assays and methods for characterization, toxicology and stability studies for bioprocess and formulation development of early phase vaccines.


+ Independently provide hands on support for routine assays such as ELISA, nephelometry, cell-based assay using flow cytometry, nucleic acid quantitation using ddPCR in support of vaccine process development and formulation development efforts.

+ Independently run and process assigned samples, analyze data, and provide conclusions.All experiments should be fully documented in an appropriate notebook and provided to a supervisor or delegate for review within the established timelines.

+ With guidance, perform method development, qualification and transfer of assays used for characterization of materials used in toxicological and Phase 1 clinical studies for a portfolio of vaccine candidates. This includes drafting experimental design protocols and executing the protocols in a timely manner.

+ The individual should be familiar with the specific requirements and the associated guidelines for bioassays, as well as be familiar with the ICH guidelines for method qualification.

+ Author and draft/ revise appropriate methods and/or assay qualification reports.

+ Plan weekly workflow to complete the tasks/experiments with guidance by the supervisor.

+ Perform other duties as assigned. This includes maintaining laboratory instruments as necessary according to applicable guidelines and ordering frequently used reagents and materials.

+ Where applicable, perform job responsibilities in compliance with GLP and all other regulatory agency requirements


+ M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or equivalent with 2 years relevant experience or BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or equivalent with 5 years relevant experience.


+ Background in nucleic acid methods (PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR), antibody-based assays (ELISA, Luminex/Bioplex, Nephelometry, or Flow cytometry) and cell culture is a major plus.

+ Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software is desirable. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
