  • Transfer base knowledge micro skills to the shop floor in the areas of proper cleaning technique, appropriate chemical concentrations on specific surfaces and what impact this have on microbial growth
  • Ensure compliance to food safety guidelines especially micro via HACCP training
  • Performing plant self-assessments and correcting issues with regards to micros/sanitation
  • Perform environmental sampling and test per the QA Manual using aseptic technique in the following areas: air, water, product and non-product contact surfaces
  • Responsible for:
    • quantification and identification of bacteria, mold, & yeast
    • management of micro supplies & equipment
    • preparation standard and selective media for micro testing
    • acquiring and sustaining basic mycology skills for mold identification
  • Maintain an operational knowledge of the following micro equipment: autoclaves, laminar flow hoods, microscopes
  • Maintain sound testing methodology of the following test procedures and responsible for assuring the compliance to these testing methods both in the lab and on the shop floor this includes but is not limited to maintenance & calibration: pH, Titratable Acidity, Water Analysis (chemical & micro), Dissolved solids, Chlorine residual testing, Turbidity testing, Environmental microsampling (water/air/product & non-product contact surfaces)
  • Enter weekly micro results for monthly submission to Corporate Sanitarian
  • Communicate weekly microdata to the Production BULs for sanitation purposes with follow up
  • Weekly GMP audits with follow up and documentation
  • Review and filing of Production paperwork, ability and knowledge on release strategies, ability to communicate releases to both site warehouse and offsite warehouses
  • Weekly audit of CIP processes with regards to titration and efficacy


  • Certified Microbiologist required, Bachelor of Science preferred
  • Three years of technical skills experience preferred in all areas of Quality Assurance
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft business software, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Statistical Graphing Programs and Outlook
  • Flexibility in days and hours worked as volume changes
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people from interdepartmental to cross-functional
  • Ability to identify problems and non-compliance and resolve any issues with the appropriate department
  • Familiar with FDA regulations and experience in performing internal audits
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States
