The nurses in the Oncology Department of the GeorgeWashington UniversityHospital(GW Hospital) areDefining Medicinethrough their capacity to think, research, discover, evaluate, teach, learn, refine, and innovate.We are seeking experienced RNs for our medical/surgical Oncology unit who want to work in an environment which fosters positive patient outcomes through a collaborative practice model and evidence-based nursing practice.


  • Collaborates care across disciplines to ensure competent and compassionate care of oncology patients. ONS Chemotherapy Provider card preferred, but can be obtained within 6 months of hire. Administration of chemotherapy, monitoring for and treatment of oncology specific complications. Opportunities for education and certification in oncology specific topics, such as stem cell transplant. Works closely with palliative care, acute pain management and case management to ensure patient-centric care which addresses the oncologic patients unique challenges and needs.
  • Construct and implement the plan of care using nursing knowledge and skill. Integrates direct and indirect patient care activities related to the diagnosis and co-morbidities.
  • Coordinates the implementation of the interdisciplinary plan of care for assigned patients. Develops goals, treatment plans, and discharge plans that meet individual patient/family needs.
Job Requirements


Graduate of an accredited or NLN -approved RN program. BSN required.

Current CPR certification.

New grad RNs MUST have taken their NCLEX and passed before the start of the program. It is strongly recommended to sit for a DC RN license when registering to take your boards.

2 Letters of recommendation from clinical instructors on letterhead

Official Transcripts (Unofficial will be accepted if followed by official with GPA at minimum of 3.0 or higher no exceptions!!

Current licensure status to include NCLEX test date and jurisdiction (e.g. DC, Maryland, VA) If you have not graduated please indicate the state you plan to obtain your initial licensure.

Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment required by facility.
