Responsibilities

The Risk engineer supports and participates in the program Risk and Opportunity Management (ROM) process for the acquisition and development of a space/ground system, and is responsible for the execution of the process and delivery of high quality ROM products. Specific responsibilities include:
Support the documentation of the System Risk and Opportunity Management Program in the System SEMP.
Support the identification of risks and opportunities, prepare and track risk mitigation and burn-down plans, and implement risk mitigations and corrective actions.
Participate in the ROM process and other elements of the systems engineering and program planning and control system including cost, schedule, performance, software, and safety using digital systems engineering tools and methods.
Support the development of impacts to technical, cost, and schedules for identified risks and opportunities.
Support the quarterly System ROM Working Group (ROMWG).
Collaborate with all system stakeholders to review risk and opportunity status including participating in segment risk processes.
Ensure operational and test limitations, constraints, and cautions are incorporated into operations procedures, training materials, test procedures, handling procedures, and technical artifacts.
Establish processes and procedures that minimize supply chain risk across the system to hardware and software critical items.

The Risk Engineer designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.


Qualifications

Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.

Familiarity with MIL-STD 882E
