OptumLabs is looking for an intern to support the implementation of genomics-guided medicine, particularly in the space of disease prevention. This will include assisting the Omics team and working with other tactical teams across OptumLabs to de-risk, develop and/or pilot precision medicine withing the UHG enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help our core team develop a multi-year research program aimed at getting preventative omics in the clinic by leveraging technology, data analytics, and interventions
  • ""
  • Identify emerging opportunities relevant to omics and prevention; stay current with developments in the field
  • ""
  • Dive into the relevant literature with a critical eye, incorporate data from multiple sources, and synthesize literature reviews, internal position papers or scientific publications based on your findings
  • ""
  • Help develop clinical process flows and omics data pipelines for research and implementation
  • "

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant masters or doctorate program (genome sciences, public health, bioinformatics, medicine, nursing)
  • ""
  • Writing sample that demonstrates your ability to read, understand, and communicate the results of scientific findings (e.g., literature review, thesis paper excerpt)
  • ""
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
  • ""
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations
  • ""
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe.
