The Research Consultant of Specialty Pharmacy Market Analysis will focus on delivering actionable market insights and strategic recommendations to key executives within target business areas, sales, marketing, and client management. The Senior Consultant will also conduct primary and secondary research initiatives, transforming data into purposeful insights that are understandable, accurate, relevant, and actionable.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a research consultant, identify stakeholder needs and lead research efforts, both secondary and primary, for the OptumRx Specialty Pharmacy markets
  • ""
  • Collect and perform analysis on multiple disparate pieces of intelligence and data sets, identifying insights and recommendations for strategic actions
  • ""
  • Develop a research plan to support intelligence gathering, internal collaboration, quantitative and qualitative analysis, assuring delivery of research on time and within budget and recommend changes in the organization of the marketing intelligence group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives and provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing research problems and opportunities

  • Manage supporting research initiatives by implementing the entire research process, defining the research scope and budget, selecting the appropriate research methodologies, managing research vendor relations, interpreting and analyzing data and information, as well as synthesizing disparate data, developing reports, communicating and presenting research finding and implications to members of the organization

  • Manage and implement internal systems, templates, and tools to maximize the efficient delivery of market and competitive intelligence
  • ""
  • Support other strategy development, business planning, and executive management activities
  • ""
  • Present research findings and implications to all levels within the organization
  • ""
  • Monitor news and information sources for impactful stories or trends, gathering data about OptumRx competitors, clients, and partners, and keeping leaders and stakeholders updated via email, phone, or Optums knowledge management tools
  • ""
  • The position will receive guidance from the Senior Director of OptumRx Market Insights

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (MBA/MHA/MPH preferred)
  • ""
  • 2+ years of experience in the healthcare space
  • ""
  • 2+ years of experience in market research or competitive intelligence
  • ""
  • Demonstrable experience with primary and secondary research methodologies
  • ""
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be extremely organized
  • ""
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and market research tools
  • ""
  • Experienced and comfortable with presenting in person and via WebEx, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams to large groups at all levels of the organization
  • ""
  • Ability to travel nationally on occasion, as needed

  • 2+ years of experience in the Employer and/or PBM industry
  • ""
  • 2+ years of experience with financial and quantitative analysis
  • ""
  • 2+ year of experience in the Specialty Pharmacy industry, understanding workflow, business models, customer journey, and research nuances
  • ""
  • Ability to build partnerships and trust with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • ""
  • Self-starter and able to work independently; work with a sense of urgency and be comfortable with ambiguity and constant change; approach work in an enthusiastic, positive, and collaborative manner

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize deliverables
