Sodexo is seeking a Fulltime Registered Dietitian 2- Universities for Fairfield University located in Fairfield, Connecticut.  Reporting to the General Manager of Dining Services, this full-time on-site Registered Dietitian will be a subject matter expert and thought leader within Dining Services, the University, and the Dietetics Community.


The successful candidate will:

  • Support menu development, marketing, catering, and the culinary functions including food allergy safety;
  • Ensure all products and services provided comply with federal and provincial food labeling legislation;
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all students and families requiring medical dietary accommodations, as well as the primary mentor for dietetic interns and undergraduates being trained within dining services;
  • Meet with students and parents of students with special dietary accommodations and develop individual plans for each as well as orient to menus, venues, and the culinary team;
  • Promote and cultivate a culture of health through educational programs, cooking classes and healthy meal demonstrations in all residential and retail dining areas in collaboration with the culinary team;
  • Serve as the key dining contact for the health and wellness initiatives, and collaborate with other departments and functions to promote healthy choices regarding diet, fitness, and relationships;
  • Assist and train culinary team in understanding special dietary accommodations, menus, and products;
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure that all special dietary meals are prepared according to accommodation needs, while protecting student confidentiality;
  • Provide individual counseling and group nutrition education to campus students, faculty, and staff at health/wellness fairs, in campus dining venues, and in campus organizations/residence hall floor events/meetings;
  • Develop content for social media communications in collaboration with the marketing function and academics;
  • Provide guidance for all athlete-specific menus and events;
  • Provide Sports Nutrition training for coaches and athletic trainers, one-on-one counselling for athletes to assist with meeting weight or medical goals, and group training for teams to ensure support for one another in adopting healthy eating behaviors that promote better healing and performance;
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant academic programs to explore research opportunities and potential student internships;
  • Oversee quality, safety, and posted menu information for the Simple Servings program;
  • Work with marketing team to promote students disclosing food allergies for their safety, to promote campus to food allergy families, and to promote food allergy awareness and inclusion within the campus community;
  • Consider all aspects of wellness in designing programs to promote not only healthy nutrition, but restful sleep, positive relationships, fitness, and healthy body image;
  • Consider sustainability, prevention of food waste, hunger, and Better Tomorrow goals in all menu and programming decisions;
  • Promote locally grown food, sustainable seafood, and reduction of carbon footprint.

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are a Registered Dietitian and licensed/eligible for licensure in the state of CT;
  • Have one year of experience in hospital or university outpatient counseling;
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Have the proven ability to effectively engage, motivate and influence others regarding their nutrition;
  • Have strong presentation skills;
  • Have demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with the ability to adapt the changing needs of the role;
  • Have a commitment to continued education in the nutrition field and implementation of new and innovative ideas.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition servicesKey Duties-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met. -Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy. -Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary. -Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice. -Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitianSodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
