This role is part of the R&D Measurement Sciences team, a team focused on smart data, driving decisions and insights through efficient data generation, interpretation, and communication. The Analytical Technician role conducts a physical analysis of global convenience food products. The focus of this role is on Core Physical Testing using Texture Analyzer, Particle Size Analyzer, Viscometry, Rheometer, and Microscopy analysis. Additional responsibilities include assisting in routine wet chemistry, instrumental analysis, communicating with R&D or Operations for product management, and reporting data into a laboratory information management system. This position will report to the Physical Characterization team manager and is located at our Global R&D facility in Plano, TX. Responsibilities: Perform core testing analyses using the Texture Analyzer, Particle Size Analyzer, Viscometry, Rheometer, and Microscopy analysis methods following standard operating procedures. Interpret data, calculate, and report results (LIMS) laboratory information management system. Support special projects as assigned by management. Prepare and maintain chemicals, solutions, sample dilutions, and equipment as needed for the performance of analyses. Work with R&D Scientists & Management to effectively manage/prioritize tasks and projects. Organize and purge samples on a regular basis. Maintain accurate equipment, quality records and assure the reliability of measurement systems by using appropriate Good Lab Practices (GLP) and established processes. Document all test data in appropriate online system and communicate results in an accurate and timely manner. Follow all appropriate safety procedures, including proper PPE, as well as other site policies and programs. Maintain clean bench/floor/work area as well as instruments; storage areas including drawers, cabinets, refrigerators, freezers. Communicate with prep room and/or test requestors (scientists, engineers, technician, management) to ensure samples are processed/analyzed accurately. Percent Travel: up to 10% #LI-USA Qualifications/Requirements Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or related discipline (preferred) or Associates degree in Chemistry, Foods Science, or related discipline with 3+ years experience in a laboratory environment. Experience with physical testing equipment such as Texture Analyzer, Particle Size Analyzer, Viscometry, Rheometer, or Microscopy is preferred. Knowledge and skills in force, thermal, and visual observation-related technologies of material science is preferred. Experience in foods and beverages preferred. Strong attention to detail while conducting all testing and reporting. Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver accurate analytical results to needed timelines. Ability to work closely with other technicians, scientists, and management to achieve business objectives. Demonstrated ability to learn and share new techniques and adapt to new ways of working. Familiar with understanding and following all Good Lab Practices and lab safety procedures. Strong organizational skills, with an ability to keep neat, orderly, and complete records. Ability to prepare graphs and tables using appropriate computer software such as Microsoft Excel.
